I am 48 years old. I have been a UT fan since the mid 70s. I have never seen UT Football as bad as it is today.

Me and the wife painted the inside of the garage the last 2 days. Earlier this year we painted the living room and had laminate flooring put in. Last year we painted the outside doors and stained the deck. Also last year we put mulch down.2 years ago we painted the kitchen and bathrooms.Later this year we will paint the bedrooms. Housework is never done.

UT was bad the last few years because of terrible recruiting from 2006 to 2009. Phil Fulmer's last 3 classes and Lane Kiffin's only class were busts. The 2007 class was supposed to be great but Eric Berry was the only highly rated played that lived up to expectations. Over half of Kiffin's class is gone now. The main players producing for Derek Dooley are his recruits. I think he still needs a little more time. Dooley also had terrible luck with losing his best player(Justin Hunter) with an ALC injury last year and losing Bray for several games. With UT's roster and the bad luck you could have brought back Bear Bryant,Vince Lombardi and Bill Walsh from the dead and added Nick Saban or Bill Bellechek and UT still wouldn't have won a bunch of games.

Dooley still needs 3 more years. A lot of these real good SEC teams have a bunch of 5th,4th and 3rd year players playing key roles. Most of UT's players playing key roles are true freshmen and true sophomores. You have 18 and 19 year old young men going up against 23,22,21 year old men. Those guys for other teams have guys that are much bigger and stronger than our guys.

I don't know yet if Dooley will get it done at UT. I do know this. We have to give him a few years to try to turn this program around. I havent seen UT this thin talentwise since the late 70s.
It doesn't help matters that UT's 2 best offensive players are hurt(Bray,Hunter). UT's best defensive player(Jansen Jackson) was kicked off the team and their best linebacker(Herman Lathers) hasn't played all year. Also Curt Maggitt didn't play last night.
This team wouldn't win much right now even if Nick Saban,Bob Stoops or Chip Kelly was coaching this team.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / The Colts and Manning

I think with the Colts 0-7 start you can now see how great Peyton Manning really is. The Colts averaged over 10 wins a season when Manning quarterbacked them including last year. Last year the Colts had all kinds of injuries except for Manning and won 10 games. Now except for Manning the Colts are healthy. They will be lucky to win a game. Amazing what a difference Manning makes. I remember when Tom Brady missed the whole season a few years ago the Patriots still won 10-11 games. When I hear people talk about how much better Brady is than Manning just bring up these facts.
I don't care how many Super Bowls a quarterback wins. To me the most important stat of a quarterback is how much better he makes his teamates. It looks to me that While Brady is a great player the Patriots could win without him. The Colts are lost without Manning. Brady is part of a great system in New England. Manning is the system in Indy.
