Reminder that you're not the only one who's had ACL surgery around here. Mine was in 2009, and my knee never did get back to where it was before. Oh, I can get around just fine, but I'll never run at a full sprint again. And (this one really hurts) I'll never ski again. Now obviously college and pro athletes are a different case. They usually get the graft or synthetic replacement, which both heal better (but usually take longer to rehab). They also have unlimited time and resources to rehab, which most of us civilians don't have. But the bottom line is it just varies from person to person. I remember when Kelly Jolly tore her ACL in November and was back the following March to lead us to a NC. Conversely, I look at the Braves' Ronald Acuna. He tore his ACL right before the All Star Break in 2021. He didn't return until late May of 2022, and even then was a shadow of his former self for the rest of the season. I hope ZZ can come back quickly and at full strength. But we should all prepare ourselves for the fact that he might not. That makes two of us never skiing again I feel I'm on the steep gradient path to eventually knee replacement Nothing I can really do
As far as Zakai goes, even if he makes it back for SEC play there is a good chance that initially he will not be fully back At that point it is as much mental as physical If he has the mental capacity that Kelly had (forged by Pat) then yeah he has a chance (people say Barnes is tough on PGs, but he nothing compared to how tough Pat was, just ask Kelly)
or three of us. I really miss skiing. and being able to punt a football. My brother and I made up this game Punt Wars where you would get out on the street and one streetlight was a goal and the other down the street was the second. You defended your goal and any punt landing on the street beyond the lightpost was a score. you had to punt from where you caught the punt or from where the punt ended up rolling. I remember going home on Christmas and we were in our 30s and hell, even in our 40s, and we would go out on the street and play. Cars would pass by and wonder what the F was going on, lol. I lost my brother 9 years ago, so we haven't played since then. I got really bad osteoarthritis in both my knees at about the same time that he had passed, and it has really sucked. bone on bone in both knees. constant "chronic" pain. There is really no relief from it except for narcotics. laying down, sitting, - NOPE. Sitting just kills ya. Standing is the worst. It's been terrible. I probably should have gotten joint replacements years ago, but I have always been too fizzleing fat, and, LOL, too young. About 6 years ago I began to get the same issues in my lower back. I can keep that at bay with regular visits to the Chiropractor. 2 years ago my right hip joined the party and that about did me in. FOr a while I would struggle just walking across the damn room. It hurts ten time more than the knees. I don't know if y'all have ever felt your shoulder almost pop out of socket - well that is what my hip feels like most of the time. If i take a turn in just the wrong way - yikes, the agony. I was already too damn heavy when I had the hip issues, but I packed on even more weight when it started bothering me. I finally got the ship turned around last summer and have lost 110 lbs since then, but I have about that much more left to go. I hope to start getting joint replacements this summer. I guess I will start with this mother fizzleing hip. I have an old HS teammate who does replacements and have heard he is a great orthopedic surgeon. He's in Memphis. Even though I am in Baltimore, I just might go down south and see him about it. I gotta start lookin into it. It would be great to be able to ski again or to punt a football, but I don't know if that is even possible, post surgery. Probably not. I would just settle for being able to walk with just a fraction of this fizzleing pain. But I guess that ain't a guarantee. /rant over - LOL. Go VOLS tonight. I almost got some tix for tonight at MSG, but they fell through. It's just as well cuz going to stadia these days is kinda problematic for me. I got to go to the Vikings playoff game back in Jan and that almost wasted me - probably would have kilt me if I hadnt lost all that weight.

I don't think Santi brought it up all night. I think Mashak could be the one going fwd. I thought he did well tonight. James and Key played some pg tonight, too.
It doesn’t seem like Santi is 100%

I think the permanent opponents should have been based solely on tradition and the only issues would be resolving conflicts where too many traditional matchups are shared. I hate to lose the KY game simply because we have played it so many times over the life of our program. To be honest, I'd rather lose Vandy than KY. Vandy is never gonna be dominant in football again. They may have a couple of good years out of a decade, but that will be it, if at all. KY at least has the potential to be a good rival. Nominally we should beat Vandy 55-0 every year. That doesn't do much for me. Sure it is a "nice to have" but that is about it.
And yeah, yeah yeah, I know we just recently lost around 5 out of ten to the commode doors. That is only a sign of how pathetic we were, not much else.

He needs to run stairs at Thompson Boling AND Neyland until he learns to hit a free throw late in the game. Stupid sumbitch needs to get his head out of his arse. I could shoot better FTs than him and I haven't taken a shot at all in at least 5 years. Maybe Uros can teach him how to bank in those FTs!

I would guess that the SEC very much wanted this to happen before the realignment to the 12 team CFP.
The scheduling is going to be interesting to see. Personally, I think I would like to see 3 yearly opponents with everyone playing a home-away with all of the other SEC schools during a four year period.
BTW, I went thru this exercise back in Nov - here is what i thought made the most sense in terms of traditional rivalries wrt the 3 permanent opponents: Mizz Ark, OK, Aub Bama Aub, TN, OK Ark LSU, Mizz, TX Aub Bama, Uga, Mizz UF UGa, LSU, SC UGa UF, Aub, SC UF UGa, LSU, SC UGa UF, Aub, SC UK TN, Vandy, MSU LSU Ark, Miss, UF Miss MSU, LSU, Vandy MSU Miss, TAM, UK OK TX, Mizz, Bama SC UF, Uga, TAM TA&M TX, MSU, SC TN Bama, UK, Vandy TX OK, Ark, TAM Vandy TN, UK, Miss It might help our case for this now that UK is playing better ball. And it's a no brainer, Vandy's top rival is clearly us, it really is not a debate.

I listened to the game. It seems to me this was a failure of the defense. We shot just as well in this game than we did vs UGa. Little bit of a fluke, added in. But I'd say one of the first times our D let us down.

I think it was a foul, but as Pirate pointed out Vescovi was clearly fouled right before that and no call which resulted in a TO.
Ron Slay made a great point on the SEC show - if the Aubie shooter had not try to oversell the foul, it might have been called. Although I think he was fouled, he definitely flopped on the play as well. And remember, that very same dude was called for a technical foul on a previous flop he did on a 3 pt shot. Overall, not an egregious no call, IMO. I hate all this fizzleing flopping. I think Vescovi may have flopped a little on his huge 4pt play. The game is hard enuff to officiate as it is without all this baby LeBron play acting.

Not surprised at all....If this team isn't on this kind of thing will happen. I've never been as high as some are on this team....They just lost to a very average team....I won't be shocked to see them make a early exit in March getting beat just like last night.
I think you are right on. Maybe this can be used by coach Barnes as a lesson to help prevent it from happening come tourney time. I kinda assume it will happen again before the SECT. We'll see. Today's game vs Bruce will be so key to getting back on track, which is important. Thank goodness we are at home. Then we have to go to Vandy, have a good Mizzou team at home (thank goodness again!) After that we have the HUGE one vs Bammer at home and then payback at RUpp. It would be AWESOME to run that table. We can slip up again after that Before UF, we were flirting with a #1 seed. I suppose we are still in that hunt, but can't afford too many more "foul-ups". A number one would go a long way to help us avoid those damn bracket busters we seem to ALWAYS draw come tourney time.

Back in the 70s we had a tradition of going to the Copper Cellar to eat before the game. At some point it got so popular that we stopped doing that. I have not been there in years, or rather decades. I remember it being dang good. When I looked it up on Google i really did not recognize it. I vaguely remember it being in the basement of a row of old store front buildings, but those seem to be long gone. The Cellar seems to still be there, and maybe still in a basement, but the building looks kinda new. Anybody know the history of the place since the 80s?

Let's play like it vs the Gators on Wed!
Also big game vs LSU for the Ladies tonight. Can they bounce back against the brick wall they ran into in their last game??? I thought they played good againstthe Huskies, but they were just outclassed, talent wise. That is very disappointing seeing how the Huskies were sitting a bunch of folks. I'm not sure what we can do vs the Tigers, but it will be interesting to see how we measure up to them.
