True story:
A few years ago our school principal, two other teachers and myself were traveling to Celina TN to a HS football game and we stopped in Gainesboro at a cafe to have a quick meal. Our waitress asked us where we were heading and we told her. It had been several years since any of us had been to Celina so we asked her how far it was. She said, "It's about twenty miles, but you probably drive faster than I do.". I cleaned up my Dr. Pepper that shot through my nose.

Quite frankly, I've never understood fanaticism for pro teams in any sport unless you live in (or are from) the city or state or even general area in which the team is located. Vicarious pleasure from the success of others.  and I have lived mostly a tough life for that. Lately things have been better. I took up with the Titans since I had no local favorites and they are my second favorite football team. I have no second favorite baseball team. |

I have spent the last 15 years with people trying to force me to be a Titan fan...oh, you have to root for your hometown team, etc. Well...no I don't. I rooted for the Green Bay packers because of Reggie, the Broncos because of Al, I root for the Texans because of Arian but I won't root for the Titans ever.
How about if we sweeten the pot with free odoreaters for life? |
