The article is basically a restatement of what has already been said and what we all know: This season is probably going to suck.

I'm going to be really pissed if the Vol bandwagoneers start railing against Butch when this season plays out exactly like we know it will. It has practically no chance of playing out otherwise. The talent level is low and thin. To go into our schedule looking for some kind of "improvement"  in order to judge Butch is short-sighted and self-defeating.

And yet, that's exactly the reaction I expect from many of our "fans".

Yeah. I've seen predictions from some on this board for 8 or 9 wins. How we're going to do that with inexperience at QB, our top 3 WRs (Hunter, Patterson and Rogers) and our best TE (Rivera) gone, RBs that are serviceable but not spectacular and a defense that was absolutely horrible last year (and yeah I know a lot of it was coaching and scheme and it should be better, but a top-level D?) is beyond me. I think if he wins 7 it would be a good accomplishment and a positive stepping stone for the future.

This is very true.  It was in the NY Times, not that the two are related, lol.

This is one of many reasons that saban is an ahole.  He is absolutely ruthless with schollies.  He won't hesitate for one second to kick a player to the curb.

People can root for whoever they want to root for, but the oft-touted "it helps the SEC so it helps us" thing is way overblown. If it's a pride thing, I get it . . . we play in the toughest conference, yada, yada. But the idea that Bammer winning last night somehow helps UT is one I cannot understand.

Well, it could help us, or any other school in the conference, in this scenario: UT is one of three undefeated teams or in a group of several one-loss teams vying for the second spot in the BCS title game (or a slot in the upcoming 4 team playoff system). You don't think the conference's dominance wouldn't tip the scales in favor of us or any other conference school in that scenario?

Yep.  Of course, I would've also been nauseous had the outcome been reversed.

But I just don't get this SEC loyalty thing, especially when it comes to bammer.  You people who were rooting for them out of conference pride, do you think the SEC is going to send you a loyalty bonus check in the mail or something?  I just don't get it.

What's for you to get or not get? If someone decides they want to root for other teams from the conference out of a sense of conference pride, why do you feel the need to suggest they do otherwise?

The guy that sung the high part had some rough moments, but overall I liked it better than most of the anthems I've heard lately. At least it still sounded like the anthem and they didn't sound like they were being sexually violated while they were singing it (Christina Aguilera, I'm looking at you).

I'm watching the UGA-NU game on TV (or about to) and the other three bowl games on ESPN 3 using the split screen feature. I'm old enough to remember the days when you could only watch one football game a week.
