Yes, 375,754 bikers and my car went down it together. There were camera locations on the side of the road taking pics while advertising an internet address for purchase.

One biker did wipe-out around a curve and but was "OK."

School bus crash today, at least 6 kids dead so far, 23 more hospitalized.

OMG. So sorry to hear of such a tragedy. It's one thing when adults die, but it's entirely something else when children pass on...so hard to handle. God bless each and every family and may He grant them some kind of peace and be with them all.

BG, as a friend, you might back off from this.    BTW, Creek hasn't posted on this thread.

OK.

When is the last time we got a recruit out of The Worker's Paradise that the Dear Leader actually offered?  Has it EVER happened?

Did you guys really want the truth about Ignont and the Tide's recruitment of him? I know many here don't really follow recruiting like others.

If you want the details, then we'll also finally discuss Bennett's commitment to UT. Creek, you may recall I refrained from spoiling the party last time, but if you want the truth...

Yeah, Sutton, Kirkland, and JRM all being out was going to hurt.  But we had played the previous three without them and fared pretty well (in spite of the poor LB play).  For those picking a UT win, I'm guessing the reasoning was that we could score on you, we were at home, and we could still win a shootout if we could cut down on the turnovers.  And again, most thought Kirkland would be back.  But when the entire OL  (and Kirkland) either didn't take the field or went out early, that crippled our offense, too, and that was that.

If we play a rematch in Atlanta, you'll hopefully see a healthier team.  But we still won't be anywhere near full strength.

I just hope the Tide makes it. Still three tough games to play. Both LSU and Auburn are playing much better, and each have talent. A&M will be a tough game, and their former OU quarterback shredded Bama's D three years ago in the Sugar Bowl. He won't lack confidence.

I will never predict a UT loss.  In reality, I believed a loss by something like 35-24 to be possible, and injuries just made that worse.

I will also say that some of the events of the 4th quarter...particularly the punt return but also the long TD run, came at the end of a long game in which UT was worn out and playing scrubs, and made it seem worse than it was.

I am not concerned with the magnitude of the loss, though it is embarassing.  Fully healthy, the ten point spread was about right, and maybe even a little high.  With JRM, Sutton and Kirkland, I think our Uga, UF and Tamu games are not near as close and that we beat Tamu.  Of course, those three were not turning the ball over against Tamu, but I digress.

No question the loss if Reeves-Maybin, Sutton and Kirkland  gutted UT's defense. Two of those guys were All-SEC candidates, and I agree with your last paragraph.

A lot of the injuries (especially those on the OL) weren't reported until the day of the game.  Also, most thought that Kirkland would return, and he didn't.  He would've helped a lot.  Our all-3rd string (or lower) LB corps is absolutely lost out there right now.

BDV, I was aware on the game day decisions, but I thought there were several key injuries to key players which it was known would not play and would certainly impact UT.

The loss of Reeves-Maybin and Sutton was going to hurt---I thought??? I read on a board they were definately out, or at least probably out, and were not going to play---as well as your dismissed DL. Also, with that many game day decisions to be made it would be highly unlikely they would be at 100%. You guys were certainly banged up.

I get your point, but I still do want to bust Bandit's balls over this!

BTW, I had to come over here today and see what was going on with Kamara. It was reported by one of our posters that a UT friend had emailed him with the news of Kamara's injury. Most, including me, found it hard to believe another injury had benched yet another of your players. No hyperbole when I say I've never witnessed so many injuries to a team.

Woowwwwwww

Well, at least Kelly played really well against Tamu

And, BTW, this does explain the offensive woes a bit. Along with all five OL starters being injured.

Of course it does. I also have never seen a team with so many key injuries.

BTW, I really didn't know the extent of UT's injuries until late last week. I came to lurk and read the board, and noticed there wasn't too much chatter on the upcoming Bama game, and took it to mean there wasn't too much excitement due to all of these injuries.

I read some predictions and the Scout UT writers predicted a Vol win. With all of the injuries how in the world they could predict that was beyond me, but of course a very close 35-34 UT win prediction was understandable.

While the Scout UT writers did predict that UT win, I'm of course joking with you Bandit about your 35-34 score as I've predicted worse.

OK, not the Tide fans best moment... Even our boards unmercifully blast it every year!  However, we also need to change the number on the helmets in the pic from the number 15 to number 16 and counting...C'mon, a little give and take here

Regardless, here I am Gumping after a scent of a Tide player's autograph...

C'mon BG - we're trying to hate the guy here!  Guess there's plenty of time between now and October...

I hesitated posting this, but thought the majority here may be interested. I didn't know he knew her, and had no idea he would go to her practices to see her when the opportunity presented itself. He obviously had great respect for her.

4 *, bamer offered, bamer legacy, we got him

So what was your point??

Really?   But I personally do think he's an excellent prospect. According to reports today, supposedly he moves well and has gained the necessary weight he needed this spring. I had read nothing on him before today.

I trust the DNA, and his cousin (also a Bennett from B'ham) was one of the greatest players at WR Vandy ever had.

Alabama wanted him. He's an Alabama legacy recruit. Alabama didn't get him.

No further explanation needed.

OK...I won't spoil the party.

Got offers from just about all of the top programs in the country is a pretty good indication the kid is pretty good, IMO.

Also....if we keep him it will be a big shock IMO.

My brother-in-law played LB along side Cornelius in HS. One spring in a drill "Biscuit" literally knock him out...cold.

I think this calls for a

BOOM!!!!

Curious, why the "boom?" Other than an apparently good prospect whose father played for the Crimson Tide, what's the significance of this commitment that draws such exuberance?"

BTW, Bart Starr lives in Hoover. He's been very sick and suffered the debilitating effects of a stroke. He worked hard to improve to make it to Green Bay for a recent event for Brett Farve. People who know the Starrs rave about how genuinely nice and humble they are.

Saw the Eagles during their first tour in '72 while a teen, and several more times during the years.

They usually opened the show with the following song featuring Glenn...one of my all-time favorites. RIP Glenn Frey.

As I said in another thread, I usually have little time to debate issues here but you get none from me. Agree completely that UT is headed back to true contender status. The vast majority of the Crimson Tide fan base thinks the same. The Vols were so low on talent three years ago, and now can field a team that can compete with most any. Great job of recruiting and development by Jones and his staff.

What rules have changed? The HUNH is using existing rules.  Saban has whined extensively about it as has his mouthpiece Paul Finebaum.

If the HUNH is one of the few weaknesses satan has, the last thing I want is to weaken it particularly when Vols are goid at it at the moment.

The thought of changing rules tobplacatecthat crybaby saban sickens me. He basically acts like an overgrown toddler when he doesnt get his way.

Wahhhh! The HUNH is not fair.

Wahhh! I didnt like what that reporter said.

Wahhh! I didnt like that call.

The rule change was the introduction of the 40 second clock change around 2008. I was involved in a long thread here when most were not aware of the changes to the game the rule has made. I quoted the best source possible, Rules Committee Secretary-Editor and National Coordinator of Officials Rogers Redding, of the changes the rule has made in the game. I'm not going into this further as the last time we discussed this topic it started a thread several pages long until I quoted Redding to verify my position, and I no longer have the time it takes here to debate such issues.

Note that Creek (imo the board's best poster) is right as usual. I also pointed out the same story as he regarding Neyland in the thread concerning the 40 second rule.

Warning: much of this is pro Bama related so you may just want to skip to the Bill Battle related segment. The article explains the very beginnings of sports marketing and trademarking of college football's schools names and logos which has brought so much money to all the schools.

Talk about finding a niche in an untapped market.

How are you liking it so far?  I got a new TV back in October.  Went back and forth between a 55" 4K and a 65" 1080p for roughly the same price, finally settled on the bigger TV.  I'll get 4K next time, when there's more content.  It looks like that going forward, 4K will be standard anyway, and 1080p will be phased out.

I really like it, BDV. I got that Sony 65" that I wanted. I know I probably should have waited but the price really dropped and I bit the bullet. Some Blu Rays coming out later this year with some 4k content, and a lot of YouTube stuff now in 4k.

Just like when HD first appeared, the nature scenes such as now on YouTube in 4k are the ones that will really impress. In 1080 with a 4k set you get an upconverted picture and Blu Rays really stand out. With a 4k set, 3d content is shown in true 1080 which is great, too.
