Yep.  As noted above - huge recruiting weekend, including some last minute additions not on that list.
2652  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Cursed.* on: October 06, 2013, 02:39:03 EDT
Yes, I did - when Howard fumbled the ball out of the end zone.
2653  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: OMG.......Worley ran it!!!!*** on: October 06, 2013, 12:04:21 EDT
It was bound to happen, even if by accident, at least once in his career.

2654  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: For Pete's sake......... on: October 05, 2013, 11:20:21 EDT
....the option doesn't work if the QB won't run the ball once in a while. If he doesn't, there's no freaking option. There's just a handoff to the running back.

Preach on, brother.  Preach on.  And open another bottle of Malbec.
2655  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Make of this what you will, but... on: October 05, 2013, 11:19:19 EDT
Too late.  They've already been sent in and they don't know when to call a time out.
2656  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: USA, USA, USA! on: October 04, 2013, 03:04:28 EDT
Should have been a much wider gap.  There was some American choking going on late in the day.
2657  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: on: October 04, 2013, 03:03:04 EDT
remember what?

What was the question again?
2658  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Why do people wait until they get to my office to urinate?...... on: October 03, 2013, 07:12:33 EDT
Maybe they are drinking as much wine as you are?

2659  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Just heard news about bus crash on I-40. Where exactly was it? Looked on: October 03, 2013, 05:31:07 EDT
Turns out that the driver of the SUV is the younger brother of one of the Powell football coaches, and his passenger - the one who was killed - is the son of an acquaintance of mine here in Powell.

There was a lot omitted from the story, such as that the SUV was pulling a boat that exploded in to a million fiberglass pieces, and that the victim who was killed in the SUV's father and brother were following in another vehicle pulling a boat and witnessed the entire accident.

Just a tragic situation all the way around.

I-40 mile marker 422, about a mile east of the I-40/I-81 split.

I remember Majors doing the coaching show drunk after the win over Notre Dame in the 70s.

Attack, attack, attack!

Yep, remember that.  Also remember that after we beat Notre Dame that Saturday in 1979 we went to Jackson, MS and got absolutely rolled by Ole Miss the next week.  That drive home from Jackson was one of the longest after game drives home I ever made - right up there with the loss (okay, tie actually, but it felt like a loss) at Auburn after we led by about 70 points in the 4th quarter, the loss to that moron Steve Tanneyhill the day they filmed that stupid The Program movie in Columbia, and then the 44-0 ass kicking we took at Athens.

Ah, memories - and not very good ones at that.

And one more thing:  What's wrong with taking shots at Dabo and the Kliempesin Rat Bastards?
2663  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: When you reach a certain age, you just don't give a shizzle anymore on: October 02, 2013, 09:04:14 EDT
Spurrier may be a classless #badword# at times, but I guarandamntee you he would be a fun guy to have a few craft beers with.
2664  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Lane skiff in fired! Hahaha on: September 29, 2013, 02:57:46 EDT
Good move Tee

Yep. The horse he bet on came up woefully Lame.

I'm sure his wife is still happy to be hip hopping in LA, however.
2665  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Coach Jones on the fresman QBs and when they will play... on: September 29, 2013, 02:56:50 EDT
If they aren't even ready to take one snap 5 games in to their freshman years, then why in the hell did we even recruit and sign them in the first place?

That's just not a realistic excuse from where I sit.
2666  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Ya bunch of young pups..... on: September 27, 2013, 02:36:44 EDT
Course I could have drug out Alan Cockrell and a few other names from the past as well.

Alan Cockrell a "name from the past"?

He's going to get a kick out of that one the next time I see him.  Cock still looks like he could suit up and play.

Had the chance to enjoy an adult beverage with Dewey a couple of weeks ago.  Still one of the very best human beings around.  I hate the term, but Dewey is the definition of a VFL.
2667  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Who was the second best QB in Vol history? Heath Shuler? I bet there on: September 27, 2013, 05:04:37 EDT
Well, if Herb wants to reach into the wayback machine, we can always play the Bobby Dodd card.

Now, now.  I'm not that old - but Pirate is.
2668  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Who was the second best QB in Vol history? Heath Shuler? I bet there on: September 26, 2013, 11:40:23 EDT
Boy, we have a bunch of young guys here.

Condredge Holloway is #2, in my opinion.  The things he could do were absolutely incredible.  Most don't realize that he is thought to be the best all time QB in the CFL.  Condredge was special.
2669  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Need advice on: September 26, 2013, 07:50:28 EDT
Travesty!

I could eat a Vol Burger with a PBR right now.

Fortunately you still can, but you have to go to the Sam and Andy's in Farragut to do so.

The positive is that there is still an S&A's run by the Captain family in town, although one does have to drive to Farragut for it.  They also combined the menus of the Roman Room and S&A's so you can get pretty much anything you could at either of those old Strip establishments.

George is no longer there, however.  He retired when the Roman Room closed.
2670  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Need advice on: September 26, 2013, 02:55:15 EDT
Going to be on the Strip Friday night.  As long as Gus's is still making sandwiches, I will be a happy guy.

You are still good there.
2671  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Need advice on: September 26, 2013, 02:35:10 EDT
Is The Roman Room not open anymore? The Roman Room, Krystal and Regas on 17th put about 15 pounds on me while I was at UT.

How long has it been since you've been on The Strip?

The Roman Room and Sam and Andy's closed about 12 years ago.  Regas on 17th closed way before that.

2672  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Need advice on: September 25, 2013, 10:00:34 EDT
Chesapeake's, Naples, or Ye Olde Steak House.

Or you could always bring them out to Pal and get them a burger at Hump's.
2673  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Cut weighs in on Arian Foster on: September 25, 2013, 06:34:04 EDT
Cut is right on the money.  Every dollar of Pell Grants go to the athlete.  They get meal money after the game.

And again I ask - if he didn't have money for food, how did Foster afford to go clubbing?

It's about priorities.  Foster had different priorities.
2674  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Couple of things back on Arian Foster on: September 24, 2013, 07:36:39 EDT
Foster was one who was a regular at bars and clubs on the strip and in the Old City.  I have nephews who saw him there on a regular basis.  There is nothing wrong with that, but if he could afford to go to those places, which we all know aren't cheap entertainment, then why couldn't he afford his own tacos?

Sorry, but this is nothing but a "look at me" situation.  I don't believe that he was starving.  In fact, he was overweight and out of shape his senior year.  Those aren't characteristics of somebody who is starving.
2675  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: A Jim Bob Cooper sighting on: September 24, 2013, 04:23:17 EDT
No doubt!

On the other hand, for somebody to do something as stupid as that he was probably so drunk that he doesn't remember it in the first place.
