a very pleasant surprise, taking into account how little time he's had on campus I was impressed with his apparent understanding of the offense and his ability to maintain tempo....very nice arm too, he's a real QB. Jennings needs to be playing WR, he has great running ability but wasn't even in the Dormandy's dust cloud as far as QB abilities. Pray everyone stays healthy and we' should be very competitive. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

Talent will do amazing things with one's X's and O's... ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/dude.gif) in the '96 Fiesta Bowl.....Florida was flashy and Spurrier's fun-n-gun was the talk of the town and here comes boring, predictable Nebraska and Tom Osborne and his well-known system.....the talented, well-coached & disciplined Huskers embarrassed the talk of the town and the Evil Genius. That Nebraska team is probably the most awesome team (yes I know it had criminals) I can remember.

It doesn't matter about the cylinder in this situation. The elements that are critical are if the ball was on its downward path (yes) and if it would have hit the rim (No, imho). It appears to me that a portion of the ball was below the rim when the SMU player touched it. I guess it could be debated whether or not the ball would have skimmed the rim, but I would have liked to see a no call in that situation.
I believe the intent of the rule is to allow all possible chances for the ball to go in, i.e. the ball possibly bouncing up off the rim and subsequently going in. This wasn't going to happen in any shape or form.
"over the cylinder" I was attempting to state, as you did, that it was not going to contact the rim...it appeared clear to me that the ball had already gone beyond the rim and, as you stated, the lowest part of the ball had gone below rim level. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

the QB but it's the team makeup and how they match up with the opposing team that generally wins games, especially in playoffs where you're playing against the best. I'd loved to have seen what Peyton could have accomplished with a team like Brady had for years or like Seattle now...he's never had a dominant D or great OL and run game. The new offensive philosophy Denver's coach has them running ain't gonna help a bit either. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

how many OL we have as early enrollees? I expect our OL to be vastly improved next year with a year of experience under their belt, and I thought they looked much better against Iowa, but we still need the depth to endure a long season without fatigue and injuries wreaking havoc. Also what about the RBs, we definitely need depth their too....Hurd is a beast but I think the beast cannot survive another full season like this without help. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

So is this THE guy that's going to be an All-SEC QB for the Vols. Or will he sit until Dobbs graduates?
If one of the new QBs isn't "the guy" we're in trouble because Dobbs definitely hasn't shown that he has the complete skill set needed of a top level QB....he can run, but his skill set pretty much ends there as he struggles to complete 50% of his passes and that's with probably 35% of his passes being along or behind the LOS. I'm glad we had him at the end of the year but after 2 years on campus I expected him to be a better passer. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

they did. TCU didn't win its own conference, I thought it was weak seeing the coach in the locker room seemingly trying to convince the committee that they were "co-champions"....how do you declare yourself co-champions with the team that beat you head-to-head??? Even the BIG 12 wouldn't declare a champion. TCU drilled a 2-10 team, so what....OSU (of which I an no fan btw, hate 'em consider them one of the media darlings), with a 3RD STRING QB, beat Wisconsin, who had a top 10 D and one of the best rushing attacks in the country, 59 to ZERO....even I had to give them cudos for that accomplishment. I couldn't have voted TCU over OSU given those facts. I think the BIG 12 may have a championship game next year, you want your last victory before the selection committee makes its selection to be against a good team, not some 2-10 flunky. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

this year and this coupled with his recruiting success I would have no problem giving him a raise. I don't think an extension (with 4 yrs remaining) is warranted....if we see continued success an extension can be granted next year (I understand recruits like for the coach they sign with to have at least 4 yrs on their contract so they know who they're likely to be playing for). ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

to lead us to victory consistently against the better teams and my opinion isn't based on stats. I'm troubled by what I observe in his inability to read a D and find the right guy to go to (he often throws to guys who are clearly not open), I know our WRs haven't done a good job of getting separation but often he fails to throw to the guy who does get open. He doesn't have an innate sense putting the appropriate touch on the ball (i.e. often throws short passes far too hard and fails to loft a pass over a defenders shoulder, or throw to the back shoulder where only our guy can get to the ball) and he absolutely cannot throw a deep ball at all. He does well throwing straight line passes to stationary receivers and everything else is a roll of the dice and often a good chance for an interception. He's gifted runner but not a gifted passer.
