My wife has family that owned a Pub in London for many years. Americans don't know what drinking is until they drink with the Brits. When I was in the Navy our carrier was in port along with a carrier from the Royal Navy....There was about 150 of us Americans and Brits in a bar one night. Us U.S. Navy guys wanted to show them who could win at drinking. About 2am all us Americans were passed out and the Brits had formed a big circle around the bar with their arms wrapped around each other singing God Save The Queen. To say they drank us under the table would be a understatement. ![](https://volstothewall.com/board/Smileys/default/patriot.gif)

Verne is past his prime. Although sad to see him go if he is gone, every broadcaster either has to go out on his own or be replaced. I hope he has one more year at least to make the "Koby farewell" goodbye tour. For the past couple of years, I thought he reported a game in one tired cliche after another.
The way I understand it he will have this last college football season then be done. I've enjoyed him over the years but it's time for him to step down. IMO, football is just too fast pace for him to keep up at his age. He makes a lot of mistakes. I'm sure the network knows this and one reason they are bringing Nessler in. He'll continue doing the Masters as long as he's able to sit upright.

Program started a slide after the 2001 SECCG cluster loss to LSU. Fulmer became lazy and recruited stars instead of needs....recruiting started going south in the early to mid 2000's. Too loyal to asst. coaches....Promoting Sanders to OC when he wasn't close to being ready but Fulmer could keep his thumb on him. Look at the program when coach Cutt was here and when he wasn't. Fulmer without Cutt was like a car without its 4th wheel. Fulmer lived the last several season off his equity for winning a NC. He was a UT guy who thought be would be there until he decided to leave.
You fire a coach that had won like Fulmer did you better have a good coach in your back pocket....and Hammy didn't. Most big name coaches wouldn't touch us with a 10 foot pole at that point...thus Kiffin who was looking for a job. When he left in the middle of the night our program became even more toxic and at that time the NCAA was snooping around the basketball program and the football program to some extent. Through all this we had a weak AD.
After that it was just a total cluster of epic proportions. Dooley KILLED the program.....KILLED it! There are posters on this board that wouldn't have damaged the program as much as Fooley did.

One of my major issues with Butch in the beginning was bringing his MAC coaching friends and trying to win big in the SEC. Big difference in the MAC and Big East trying to win in the SEC. To Butch's credit he's figured out his A$$ is on the line and adjusted. Unless our WRs as a group improve a lot this season the WR coach needs to be the next one on the chopping block.
