He was almost perfect. The only thing you could downgrade him for his that he was slightly off on a few throws in the end zone or deep in the red zone that would have scored TDs instead of settling for FGs and they would have dispensed with the Pats a lot earlier (though in his defense he had one perfectly thrown ball dropped in the end zone). Still an awesome performance and now it's on to the Super Bowl.

LOL. Never change, bammers. From the comments: Mike Bassi · Top Commenter Saban never said half of this crap. Kiffin was hired as the OC not NCAA violation coordinator. Is this Adam Ritchey a complete idiot? Reply · Like · Follow Post · 10 minutes ago
Mike Bassi · Top Commenter Actually Saban never said any of this stuff. This liar Adam Ritchey made this stuff up. Reply · Like · 8 minutes agoGee. Ya think? Yeah I saw that and was going to post on it, but you beat me to it. This author might get a brick through his window or his trees poisoned if he doesn't immediately print a retraction.

Without Tennessee and Florida being down he wouldn't get to nine wins though.
Do you disagree?
And don't forget they didn't have to play Auburn, Alabama and LSU. Georgia had a lot of injured players and their mascot had the flu when Vandy played them. Wake Forest's center had nasty cabbage farts and the QB didn't want to go near him, so obviously Vandy didn't deserve that win, and the refs were bought off against Houston. Vandy deserves no credit at all. DidIdothatrite?

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: What a great way for AJ McCarron to end his career (-:

He's a decent QB, no doubt. But he has been surrounded by literally NFL talent at almost every position his entire career. I've just never been that impressed with his physical skills. He mostly seems to have the ability to loft the ball downfield to WRs who have beaten their man. He does make some nice tight short passes at time, but IMO he is one of the most overated players in CFB. Add to that his mother constantly berating the media for not giving her boy enough credit. Ugh. He's not in grade school, he's a grown man, give it a rest willya! And on top of that, he has a shizzlety attitude. Like his classless comments about "the red team" after our game...and frankly he is delusional. Like earlier this week he was saying bammer wanted to make a statement like USC in 2002 that they really belonged in the other game and...he really said this..."all everyone will be talking about is us". Uhhh...how did that work for you AJ?! Shhh...don't tell his momma I said this though! She might come after me! Have you checked out the state of quarterbacking in the NFL lately? There are a lot of mediocre QBs starting for NFL teams. I think McCarron has a chance to go to the NFL and have a pretty decent career. I don't think he'll ever be elite status a la Manning, Brady, Rogers, Brees, but I imagine he could be better than complete non-entities like Gaebbert, Wheedon, Sanchez etc.

I dislike Franklin and Vandy as much as any other UT fan. He's an arrogant asshat.
That said, he's an arrogant asshat who is a hell of a football coach. I don't care how down the SEC East may be, to take a Vanderbilt football program that has won nothing in the modern day of SEC football to a 9 win season last year and another possible 9 win season this year is an incredible coaching job. For Vandy to win 9 games, coming from where they have been and even if they were all against the Little Sisters of the Poor, is a story that most who follow college football would have never believed possible. For years they lost to the LSofP, and everybody else they played, too.
As I said, he's an asshat. The rape scandal is inexcusable, but what Franklin has done from a recruiting standpoint and as an X's and O's coach is impressive and not hard to see if one takes off his/her orange colored glasses.
Agree. It's actually laughable how some on this board refuse to give him credit because 1.) he coaches a hated rival and B.) he's a grade-A douchenozzle. Be that as it may, he's accomplished beating us two years in a row, which Vandy hadn't done since 1925-26. Also laughable is the notion that we have so much more talent than Vandy. At this point we don't have so much more talent than anybody but the very bottom feeders of the BCS conferences. And Vandy this season had 2 QBs with experience who they could trust to play pretty well. We OTOH couldn't even muster one.

There's only 3 QBs I would put in Peyton's class: Montana, Elway and Brady. IMO The only thing that keeps him from being head and shoulders above everybody is the fact he only has one title and his poor record (compared with the others) in the playoffs.

At three of the positions I think we will be OK. Jackson has started. Crowder got a lot of PT, perhaps needs some more time with Lawson. Kerbyson received a good amount of PT. So one half the line I think is in good shape.
I don't know if I'd call it "good shape." Certainly it's not as bad as it was four years ago when we were starting almost exclusively true freshmen and sophomores, but at the end of the day we're going to be trotting out some mixture of players that were either not good enough to crack this year's unit and redshirts/true freshmen.

I fear that replacing the whole OL is going to hurt us. For all the bitching and complaining we did about them, and no doubt they didn't live up to the hype, we still averaged 188 yards rushing per game, which, if not earth-shattering, is respectable. I just hope Vol fans can be patient, because next year isn't going to be that much better in all likelihood. We should improve a game or two and make a minor bowl, but I'm kind of pointing to 2015 as the year where we will start the climb back into contention.
