Anyone who has had to deal with the Department of Veterans Affairs knows and has known for decades how utterly corrupt and inept they are and will continue to be. The only thing to do is start filing criminal charges against high ranking officials within the VA. That will never happen. Right now Obama is peeing down my back and telling me "It's just raining" just like they all have done with the VA. I fought them for a total of eight years until my claim was approved and I was lucky.

Couldn't have said it better myself! I've been fighting for service connected injuries since Nov 11.  A trade wind of BS is all that they send my way.  In the mean time. My dad waits for over a year for his pacemaker/defib. and the sunday prior to his Thursday surgery, he passes.  He was on hold for a hold damn year!  Hell,,,,just wait the vets out, they will die sooner or later!

As a Vet....I can say the VA makes the U.S. Postal Service look like a smoothly run organization.

Non vet here, but who's father & grandfather received adequate care at the VA.... not "great", but neither has been my experience with "private for profit" healthcare... the Republicans just filibustered/stopped increased VA funding in February. They also led us into unnecessary war, which has created the glut. This is what they do. Defund, or underfund, and then hold that up as an example of failed government. Bullshizzle! The VA was created in a time when there wasn't much medicine could do, as compared to today. My guess is it simply is not of a sufficient scale to handle the load, combine with some fizzleed up "incentive" policies for employees. The bigger question might be why are so many veterans left without insurance? Retired vets have Tri-care. Veterans can get employer backed insurance, too. Might want to look to some Republican governors that have't expanded Medicaid in their states. Just my two cents as an American in good standing

I can honestly say I have received great care from the VA. It is probably because Rapid City is a smaller populated area. But I have always gotten an appointment the same week I called for one. I have never had any serious illnesses or injuries either. If I had something serious medically, it might be a different story. I just fear that a lot of vets will be sent to private providers and end up spending more and more out of pocket. But the corruption of the VA administrators should not be tolerated and taken care of immediately. I'm holding my breath. NOT!! SmokeyJoe you are spot on.
