Don't see it happening this year. And I'm not going to worry about it either way. Even if we cut CJP loose, we'll just scrounge around the bargain bin again and hire someone equally crappy. Sick of getting wrapped up in new coaching searches every 3-4 years. Just wake me when it's done, because I just don't care anymore.

Yikes. That's depressing. Oh well, if we need a DC next year he'd be a good option.

Considering his buyout and the scarcity of funds I am surprised

If they don't have someone lined up I don't see a good outcome

I'm certainly hoping for a poor outcome. Charlie Weiss is unemployed.

USC site saying their AD has already had contact with Hugh Freeze. That will be interesting since he just signed a big contract extension this week.

I think that was the entire purpose of the extension. LU knew he'd be leaving, and the new deal increases HIS buyout. Whatever school hires him away will have to pay LU more to get him out of the deal.

We laugh at Muschamp, but he is arguably a better coach than any of our last three. That bar is set real low though. Not saying much.

I'm not so sure about that. If Pruitt hired Muschamp, where does Niedermeyer go? To D-line? We all know Tee isn't going anywhere. And as much as Will Friend needs to be gone, he isn't going anywhere, either.

Meanwhile, if it turns out that South Carolina hires Freeze while we're stuck with Pruitt, that's going to be just another slap in the face to the fans of this program.

I don't think UT would be his landing spot but I could see Muschamp going to LSU to replace Pelini.

Muskratt had been at SC for 5 years - it was time for him to get the hook, fer sure.  I agree with Cobb - I bet he lands at LSU.

I predict Granny Holtz will come out of retirement and lead the cocks to their first NC.....

horse shizzle

which is not a defense of any of our coaches. I'll give you Dooley, pretty much anyone with a pulse is better than Dooley,  but Butch actually had better records at UT than any Muschamp had at SC.  Then again, Butch never beat Muschamp, but Pruitt has beaten him twice.  Muschamp did have an 11-2 record at Florida one year, so he had one better season, but even at Florida his win percentage was less than Butch's at UT.

Butch's five-year record at UT is better than Muschamp's five year record at USC, but since Butch never beat Muschamp I guess you could say it's a push, maybe.

But there is no "arguably Muschamp is better" than all three.  Butch had a better overall record and Pruitt, whatever you think of him, is 2-0 against Muschamp and has a slightly better overall record.

Again, I'm not motivated too much to defend any of our post-Fulmer coaches (including Kiffin), but I am pushing back in that you always seem to put the most possible negative spin on anything related to UT.

You obviously posted that without bothering to do any research at all, your typical lazy shtick.  Next I guess you'll try to claim Dooley was the best coach we have had since Fulmer.

Over the last 13 years UT's revenue is $300 million more than USC's....But they pull the plug on Muschamp at 13.5 mil and have to pay for a new coach and staff and will probably have to pay a pretty good buyout to the school they hire a coach from unless it's a lower tier coach from a lower tier school or a current asst coach.

I said it all when I said not saying much. None of them were/are worthy of the job. Keep putting lipstick on that Pruitt pig you are trying to dress up.

That's a reach.  Nothing remotely resembling that in my post, other than saying he's at least better than Muschamp but that's not saying much.

I do know this though, the worse Pruitt does the happier you will be.  You might as well just root against the Vols, I don't know why you even bother really.

Actually I have supported Pruitt. But he keeps getting worse. Nothing happy in that. But you still find every opportunity to make excuses for him. Haven't the Vols learned that hiring unproven coaches is a gamble they have yet to win. No reason UT football teams should not compete at least for the SECe title every year.

Point to one post since the Kentucky game where I have "made excuses for Pruitt".  Doesn't exist.
