SEC defenses vs AAC defenses. Why wouldn't you expect the same result  ? Why even make that comparison?  I guess that vaunted UConn defense couldn't stop UCF. What would UCF's stats look like playing an all SEC schedules like last years Vols team had to. That being said, it won't take much to improve over last years offense. So Huepel's got that going for him. We better hope those incoming transfers we need pan out.

Man, you are one negative fellow. When someone asked you if the glass was half-full or half-empty your reply must have been "I don't see a glass".

I'm concerned for you. I've never seen someone here that is constantly looking on the dark side. Might I suggest Elavil?

Actually, there was someone that used to post here that sounded a lot like you. His name was JoeVols.

You gotta lighten up. Life is too short.

Points Ole Miss put up against SEC defenses-including Fla & bama.  It is now an offense world in the SEC.

I'm just looking at a realistic side. Comparing someone's offense against AAC defenses is like comparing SEC defenses  against the Vols offense last year. We made a lot of defenses look better than they were. I'm pretty sure our offense will look better than last years. But that doesn't mean much. We've seen this before but we keep falling for it. Maybe this is the guy that last for more than 4-5 years. Coaching records in the AAC is not a great measuring stick at how they will do at a P5 school and a P5 conference. Their success rarely carries over to their new job. But it will be fun to see how he does. Every time we get a new coach the same ones act like we are going to be title contenders In short order. We all know it ain't that easy. If Huepel just wins an SECe title in his first three years I will dance a jig and post it here. How safe is that bet?

He's a science experiment gone horribly wrong, where they fell into a pit of acid and somehow combined.  IT'S ALIVE!!!

Seriously though, he is actually more negative than JoeVols, as crazy as that sounds it's very true.

Frankly I think droner is on spot and I have posted similar things in the past wondering how he gets through the day.

I don't see how the resident troll gets any enjoyment out of life at all.  He could be having sex with Ariane Grande and during the event would be constantly complaining about some song of hers he didn't like, which would ruin the entire experience.

Nope . I just don't live my life by how a sports team goes. I don't need to convince myself the current coach of the day is the right one. No one knows if Heupel will be successful. If he is, then great. If not. We will be doing this again in three- five years. I'm just looking at facts. He was 6-4 last year in the AAC. But to some of you that translates into being a title contender in the SEC. Not negative. Just facts. Hopefully the covid season is a good excuse for this.

Why would I root against Josh Huepel? I don't. Hell he is from here in South Dakota. Went to Aberdeen Central High School. His dad was principal there. How many of you were ecstatic when he was hired? Me neither. I was more impressed by Kiffin's offense and going 5-5 in the SEC vs Heupel going 6-4 in the AAC. Heupel is a decent coach. I am just concerned about the way he was hired, as well as the AD. Didn't it all seem a little shady and kind of suspicious? Until he demonstrates he can be successful in the SEC, I will still say there were better choices out there. And I don't mean Kiffin. Although he wouldn't have been a bad choice. Seems we are always late in starting our search for coaches.  Then you are forced to take what you can get.

I guess you have to define your view of success. He had a good offense and QB Lock at Missouri. They averaged 500+ yards and ended up 7-6. Got drilled by Texas in the bowl game that year 33-16.(2017). Yep, that was impressive. Does no good to gain 500 yards and lose. Lock isn't tearing it up at Denver.
Doesn't it seem curious that after hiring White, we ended up with Heupel as head coach. Did they "really" look hard elsewhere.
One thing he has going for him this first year is a favorable schedule. They should win a few of these games. Should a bowl game be out of the question?  I say no, it should be expected. All 4 OOC games should be wins. That just leaves 2 more to win. How long it takes to get where we beat the teams we "should" beat is the key.

YOU DEFINE NOTHING
JUST MAKE {PPORNOUNCEMENTS, most of which are pure, unadulterated BULLshizzle with ZERO (0) definition or rationale (hate to use a BIG grownup word on you)
You probably couldn't describe why or how you breath!

BTW, the coaching search wasn't "curious"
If one is intelligent enough to understand the THREAT of MAJOR NCAA SANCTIONS!
There were at least two (2) (I believe a 3rd as well) candidates that were interviewed, considered offers and turned DW down
Who, do your own research (besides VN) for once

What part of what I said is false or inaccurate. Just because you don't like the facts doesn't make them false. I'm just not one for kissing these coaches asses before they coach a down at UT. Supporting them and slobbering over them are two different things. Why was he 6-4 last year? Because he was awesome?

Agreed. This team will definitely be more offensive going forward with Heupel at the helm. He will spread the defense out horizontally forcing teams like Alabama and Georgia to get LBs off the field or be placed in a mis-match. Look forward to seeing opposing DC's to actually have to work because in the past all they needed was their offense to put around 21 points on the scoreboard and they could coast the rest of the game. Don't think that will be the case now.
