Players are making "commitment" decisions based on it. Good or bad, that's the new reality.
Two players from the UCONN women's team just signed NIL deals.
Do we have a department handling this? If not, it's well past time. No offense to Alontae, but free cookies for the fans doesn't cut it.

I doubt that the university can legally get involved. |

They probably can't make the deal but I believe (I might be wrong) that they can offer courses or guidance on how to manage it. It would just be a basic business administration course open to all students. |

Almuni can do whatever they want.
What I think might work well is an App that lets anyone contribute to a player's NIL a bit. I'd cough up 5 bucks here and there, and if a hundred thousand others do....

On the Basilio blog today it is reported that UT alums are funding an NIL "entity". Good to hear.
Phil Knight is funding one for Oregon. I expect that one will be a doozy. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm not saying it is illegal, but it is a scam. It is just a legal way for boosters to pay off players, period. What's next down the road? Player salaries? Salary caps for college football??? Ugh. |
