Frank Wren has been locking up his young talent with long term deals left and right over the past couple weeks.  Heyward, Freeman, Teheran, and now Kimbrel.

If you were in his position, would now get to work on a deal with Simmons?  He's still not arbitration eligible for two more years- which means that until then, you could still have him under team control for Dollar Tree prices. But by that time, when he DOES go to arbitration, he may be in a position to break the bank.  Do you pay him more than you have to right now to save big down the road? IMO, he's more valuable than any of those other four guys, save maybe for Freeman.

I think he waits a year.

I was reading that they were hoping to lock up Kimbrel and Simmons now. With Kimbrel in the house they may just try to wrap it all up at once. But I might wait one year to make sure his health holds up.

Personally, I'd get to work immediately on a deal for Simmons, and then Minor.  If Beachy shows this season that he's fully recovered, I try to lock him up next winter.  Get all those guys under contract, and that's a great young core to build around.
