The main suspense is with Lambert.  We might lose him to AU.

I feel like that whole thing has been somewhat manufactured. I think he's a Vol, but the recruiting "gurus" sure are having fun with it.

Apparently Lambert has now signed with Auburn.

Chose to use his two years to compete for PT at AU instead of starting from day 1 at UT. Seems like a pretty bad choice to me, but that's the Rodney Garner "magic" for you.

Then he is a jerkface.

Three things to get out of the way:

1) UT wanted and needed this kid. This is a big loss.

2) You can't begrudge a kid for choosing the place he thinks is best for him.

3) This class is strong and I believe Butch will find a way fill the hole left by Lambert.

Now then:

1) This was an idiotic decision if he wants to play.

2) It is completely devoid of class to string along a coaching staff you've committed to for this long. He's not the first and won't be the last, of course, but it's shizzlety.

3) Rodney Garner can GFH.

And now I feel better.

Yes, it hurts to lose commits.. especially ones we needed this badly.  But one that lies to your staff and drops a bomb on you the last minute, that's the worst.

I'm happy with the guys we have, and don't worry too much about the losses. I wasn't an athlete, but wasn't sure where I was going to school until the 11th hour. My guess is some guys waffle. I get that. They might like two, three, or four places.

It's not that they planned something nefarious, they just could only pick one option. Also, some guys hate telling people no. They're not trying to play anyone, it just appears that way.

Then you don't commit. I think that's pretty straightforward.

Yes. This is not a scenario that's unique by any means but I hope Lambert spends his entire career at Auburn sitting on the bench waiting his turn.

Lambert signing with Auburn is a loss. If that's where he wants to go then so be it. Like many of you I do believe that he will be competing for playing time at Auburn, whereas at Tennessee he would have, more than likely, been a starter. It's his choice regardless of the circumstances, motives, or anything else. Bottom line is he's not a VFL. It's another door closed-another door opened situation. Time to move on and find one that will lock in, eat, sleep, breath, and eat Tennessee Orange and be a VFL. Go Butch, Go Big Orange, and Go Team 118!!!

I agree with Clock that the right thing to do is not commit, but I also get 18 year-olds feel pressured. Some are strong-willed, but some think they're supposed to make adults happy.

I get kids breaking verbal commitments, and not intending anything malicious.

I agree that it's not malicious. Thoughtless and irresponsible, though-- yes. My expectations are too high, I suppose.

Well I agree with Clocky that he will compete for playing time . . . but at Auburn that is true no matter.  We rotate 11 DL all game.  I'm sure UT wants to be in that same position.

Lol, smh. 2011 memories are flooding back and I am remembering why you guys are almost as bad as UGA fans when you have a good team.  I hope FSU beats the snot out of your bunch.  Peace be with you, and may your condescension bring you much haught and self-fulfillment.

I think Auburn made him the $$$$$$$$$ Bagman!!!!!!!

And you honestly believe that there was no $$$$$$ involved when he was able to sign the Big 3 out of Georgia when he was recruiting for UT.

Take off the orange colored glasses.
