So, we are now giving players rings for winning the "Taxslayer Bowl" and going 7-6?
And not only that, but the rings don't even say Taxslayer Bowl, they say Gator Bowl, which doesn't exist any longer.
Is this what a once proud program has become?
Fire away.

Doesn't bother me at all. Also, IMO I attended the Gator Bowl, don't give a damn what they called it.

Guess I am just too old school to get this one. Giving rings for going 7-6 and winning a second tier bowl game just doesn't make sense to me. Just call it Upward Football and give them all a banana, juice box, and certificate of participation.
Don't understand the entitlement world we live in.

If there were 1,000 things on my list of stuff to care about today, this would be somewhere around No. 998.

That's fine. It's the off season. Is there anything worth talking about at this point, then? How many times can one go over the potential depth chart and talk about the incoming freshman class?

Everybody does bowl rings now, even in losses. Yeah, it seems silly, but you reward the players however you can within the rules.

I'm not saying it's not worthy of discussion. I'm just saying that for me, personally, it's a non-issue. Is it kinda silly? Probably. But in the grand scheme of things, I can't muster up enough give-a-damn to complain about it.

They use to give watches for bowl games......Very few people wear watches anymore. I've been retired for 6 years and haven't had one on since I retired.
Most folks use their cell phones for time now.

My impression is that it's routine for bowl games. Maybe not back in the day, but hey, we don't hitch up horses to wagons much anymore either.
