Did y’all know that we can now shop at AAFES, and it’s not just limited to active duty anymore? Apparently that’s been the case for like 3 years, and I just found out yesterday.

So I went ahead and ordered that sweet OLED that I’ve had my eye on forever.

Are you just ordering online or can you actually get a card for access?

I ordered online. I got one of their store cards, but I’m not sure if it gets you through the gate. Probably not.

Yes...been signed up for a long time. It was updated and improved under the Trump Admin. No sales tax which can help on big ticket items .

Make sure you compare prices....not a lot of savings on a lot of items other than the sales tax.

You have to order online....It will not get you in the brick buildings unless active or retired military.

Well, so much for the cheap gas and cheap booze.

The TV I got was about $100 cheaper than anywhere else. But since it was my first purchase on their card, I saved another 10%. Throw in the tax savings, and I’m a little more than $500 ahead. Not bad.

Almost every DoD installation are open to visitors, but with that said, I would call prior to making a drive

I'm not a huge fane of AAFES, their prices aren't much better than can be found elsewhere. While you do save on the tax, Amazon is usually better on the overall cost of goods.

Now to contradict myself, I picked up a 65" OLED LG that was used as a display unit for $900 😎

Yep...TV's and electronic items can be a good savings.

You spent almost $2000 on a TV.     Must be a nice one.

It’s a $2000 TV, but I paid a little over $1500, tax free.

And yes, it’s probably the best consumer-level TV you can buy right now. You can spend $10k+ on a micro-LED and get something marginally better, but unless your name is Musk or Bezos, this is about as good as it gets.

I love my OLED, the picture quality is unreal. I'm in the process of installing a 7.1 surround sound system

I wanted the 77, but I just can’t find the wall space for it. So I’ll have to make do with the 65 until I get a bigger place.

What model did you get?  Is it good for gaming?  Movies?  both?

I bought the furniture to fit it for my man cave upstairs.

When you get it setup, crank that puppy up with the new Dune movie.  Incredible, incredible sound and BOOMing bass in the movie's scenes.

My first watch is going to be the Battle of Winterfell episode of GOT. That whole hour took place at night, and my current TV did not handle the dark scenes well. I want to do a little comparison.

But yeah, I saw Dune last week, and it was a visual feast. I’m sure it will look great.

I got the LG C1. It’s supposed to be great for everything, but especially gaming. It even has an onscreen game optimizer that gives live info like resolution, frame rate, refresh rate, etc.

I saw Dune Sunday on a friends 77 inch TV.  It was very good indeed.
