I know I'm setting myself up just like the VolNation'ers who convinced themselves that Jon Gruden was All Vol, but screw it. I'm all in. Make it happen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6ApObKl0s8

In a matter of weeks I'm going to be at a full rolling boil about this, frothing with anticipation just in time to find out that Cuonzo is going to be given another year and Bruce is hired by some school that directly competes with us. I'm fully expecting heartbreak but it just isn't cooling things down for me at all.

I fully expect us to keep Cuonzo for another year for the sole purpose of allowing another school to snatch up Pearl and avoid the drama...which means a.) extending Cuonzo's contract, which would probably be the stupidest thing ever, or b.) making him a lame-duck coach, which is also a bad predicament to be in.
It's gonna be easy for the administration to screw this thing up, and I have every confidence that they will.

I don't know if Cuonzo will be retained or not. And I could be wrong but I find it hard to believe that this administration will re-hire Bruce Pearl.

I don't believe Bruce will go back in to coaching. My feeling is that he will increase his role in TV guy.

My understanding is that no school can even as much as have contact with Pearl until August which is no time to be hiring a coach. Of course this would be "official contact" and we all know some schools that might skirt that little formality.

Actually any school can offer BP a job...what they then have to do before they officially hire him is to go to the NCAA and say "BP has done his time in August and we want to hire him now as our HBBC and we want your blessing."

Correctamondo Any school has to justify their approach/hiring of Pearl until then. Given at least the public behavior of Pearl I have to believe that it could be done, especially in light of recent ncaa blowing off violations with minimal penalties.

If the NCAA had any integrity, they would consider Pearl's recent behavior, and the fact that his show cause will expire before the start of a new season anyway, and say to UT, "Okay. Restrictions lifted. Go ahead and make your hire."
But, of course, that's if the NCAA had any integrity.

come on the NCAA and integrity....the same organization that let a certain coach of the Pink Pachyderms propose a RULE in football that would restrict the timing of the offense just so his defensive coordinator has time to think and substitute? Ummmm yes that orginzation is a bastion of INTEGRITY......
