http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/6859115/texas-aggies-intend-join-sec-school-official-saysAccording to that tool Doug Gottlieb, the SEC is now pursuing FSU, Clemson, and Missou to go along with TAM. FSU would be fine, but I would hate to think that we settled in the rush to get to 16. Why not just take TAM and FSU now, and then wait and see if some bigger fish (like OU and VPI) come available in the next couple years? I just don't see what Clemson brings to the table. And Missou, while they might deliver some big TV markets, I don't see them as a cultural fit. I don't see any other league fighting to snatch up those two, so if nothing better comes along in the next couple years, they'll probably still be there.

Chip Carey paid him the ultimate compliment during last night's broadcast: "He taught me everything I know about this business. More than my dad, more than my granddad." Considering who Chip's dad and granddad were, that's pretty high praise.

I'd be fine with OU only if they come alone. If they're a package deal leave them.
FSU doesn't seem to add much to our footprint, BUT they're a good defensive move since adding them keeps other conferences out of Florida (Miami has limited local appeal).
North Carolina has too big a population and too high a growth rate to ignore so at some point we need to do something there.
Below are the 19 most populous states according to the 2010 Census.
STATE 2010_POPULATION California 37,253,956 Texas 25,145,561 New York 19,378,102 Florida 18,801,310 Illinois 12,830,632 Pennsylvania 12,702,379 Ohio 11,536,504 Michigan 9,883,640 Georgia 9,687,653 North Carolina 9,535,483 New Jersey 8,791,894 Virginia 8,001,024 Washington 6,724,540 Massachusetts 6,547,629 Indiana 6,483,802 Arizona 6,392,017 Tennessee 6,346,105 Missouri 5,988,927 Maryland 5,773,552
If we could add just one team to the east, UNC would be my pick. But there's no way they're leaving the ACC. I'd like to gain a foothold in NC too, but UNC is really the only one worth having. Duke doesn't bring much to the table other than hoops, and they're also not leaving the ACC. That leaves NCSU, and I don't see that they would add much if anything to this league. So I think we should concentrate on VPI and FSU to the East, and TAM and OU/Missou to the West.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: NCAA approves draconian APR adjustment
|

This is a rolling 4-year APR and is not based on a single year like the APR is now. I think the NCAA is going to change the way the APR is determined to account for the athletes who leave early to go pro. If you have the new rule that scholarships are multi-year and not single year, the way coaches award them and try to run people off will change. They will adapt.
The first time a major school misses the tourney or football bowl game and it costs major bucks, the big boys will swing their weight and the rules will change. In football, I would like to see the BCS formula penalize schools that play the old Div 1A and Div AA schools. If you deduct points in BCS formula, this nonsense would stop.
Although the NCAA does release yearly APR scores, I'm pretty sure they're already using, and have always used the rolling 4 year average for the purpose of imposing penalties. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

They would have to make some serious changes to the way it's calculated. Remember that our BB program took a penalty in part because Brandon Crump had already graduated a year early, came back and took grad courses to play in his final year, and then dropped out after the season ended. We took the APR hit, and missed the cutoff by one point. Situations like require some common sense, something that seems to be in short supply at the NCAA.

You can be sure UF would try to block them, but I think they'd be a good fit. If we can't get OU or VPI right now, they'd be the next best option IMO.

Dude, I'm not sure what you're trying to do; I think you know how to wipe files, so are you just trying to wipe the file contents and keep the files? Most likely you are much smarter about this than me, but if I knew what your desired end results were I might could help. (Either that or I could just scoff at you!). GreggO It's a program that automatically goes through your itunes library and adds missing cover art, missing or incorrect title/album/artist data, corrects misspelled words, etc. I have about 70GB worth of tunes, probably at least 40% of which is messed up in one way or another. So I sure don't want to go through and fix them all manually.

I'm trying to get it to clean my entire library. The problem is, my iTunes draws songs from two different locations: my iTunes Music folder, and another folder that I won't mention by name for fear of the RIAA sending their stormtroopers after me. Anyway, Rinse is only locating the songs in the iTunes folder. I tried moving the other folder into iTunes, but it's still not working. Any suggestions?

I finished LA Noire last night... I bought it two weeks ago this past Monday.
Honestly probably the most gripping storyline of any game I've ever played. The gameplay was just so-so but like a good book I couldn't put it down.
It took me right at 22 hours to finish the main storyline plus DLC, with right at 70% overall sync. I didn't do most of the side missions.
IGN gave it an 8.5. I'd say that's probably about right. That puts it in the above average range, but not quite on par with other Rockstar titles. It's a solid first installment of a franchise (assuming they're planning sequels), and there's plenty of room for improvement. Sometimes it takes studios a sequel or two to get it right (see Assassin's Creed- based on the first game, I never would've imagined myself spending a dime on a sequel, but now I'm sure glad I did). On a related note, I've just now started watching Mad Men on Netflix. It's weird seeing the guy who played Cole Phelps on a real show.

True....but is there now proof that we're not so good at geography?
No worse than those geniuses in the Pacific 10. Someone remind me how far it is from Boulder, Colorado to the beach.

I've mentioned this before, but what about Fulmer's decision to burn Tee Martin's redshirt in a blowout of Arkansas late in the '96 season? I know this is assuming a lot, but bear with me: If Tee redshirts in '96, he still here in 2000. We probably would've contended for an SEC title with an experienced QB that year. That also means Casey Clausen would've redshirted, which means... Erik Ainge redshirts in 2004, isn't on the field to tear up his knee against ND, never gets hooked on painkillers, and doesn't suffer a sophomore slump in 2005. He's also around for 2008, which means... The Crompton disaster never happens. Fulmer keeps his job in all likelyhood, which means... The Kiffin disaster never happens. We don't suffer the crippling attrition of the past few years, and we're not in hot water with the NCAA today (in football, anyway). All because of a horrible decision to get Tee some meaningless reps 15 years ago. Is your mind now sufficiently blown?

Gosh, when is the last time Bradley Central had a high level recruit? They have been bad for a long time. Good to see that program improve like it has the last couple of years.
The last Bradley kid I can remember at UT was Chris White. He turned out OK. I know they have to share their talent base with Cleveland and WV, but Bradley has some of the best facilities in the state. There's really no excuse for them to have been down for this long.

That's interesting. He did say in interviews that things that were being said are not necessarily what actually happened. I wonder if there was no evidence of some of the claims made. It also doesn't hurt that he has no history of problems.
Based on my experience with the KPD, that is a very distinct possibility.
