All men dream: but not equally.
Those who Dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds
Wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the
Dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
May act their dream with open eyes, to make it Possible.
This I did.

The Seven Pillars of Wisdom

I understand that the UT athletic department doesn't have to make a statement, but the fans are the customers and at this point they have a bunch of pissed off customers.

All it would take for a good number of those angry fans is a simple statement from Currie along the lines of "the situation is being evaluated and a final decision will be made at the end of the season".

As it is, fans are hanging on every game hoping that it is his last.  I even know a few die-hard UT fans (yes, they are fans and there is no doubt about it) who were pulling for UK because they thought that it would finally put the nail in Butch's coffin.

Customer satisfaction is important, and this weekend could get ugly.  If it does, Currie has nobody but himself to blame, imo.

Here's the crazy thing: During Scott Stricklen's presser yesterday announcing the firing of McElwain, he was asked a question about shopping for a new coach in what appears to be a crowded market,, specifically if UT also throws in.  And answered (paraphrasing) "We'll be sensitive to Tennessee and anyone else in our search".

Which means that Florida's AD has publicly commented on our coaching situation before Currie has.

I really want to believe we are letting this Butch thing play out for as long as it takes, because we have what we want already.  It is both delusional and makes sense to me at the same time.

tell them I said they can go fizzle themselves.... ...they are not fans.

Just for them, I hope Currie waits till deep into December.

I could GAS when he pulls the trigger.  My standard is that he does it at a time that optimizes our chances of landing a better coach and preserving the talent base that Butch built up (I know some have expressed doubt about this, but get real...the talent is light years better than Dooley's last year).

And I know that it's by far the majority, but I'm sick of impatient fans with unrealistic to delusional expecations.  I think the loudest segment that helped drive Fulmer out and welcomed that shizzlehead Kiffin with open arms need to have their noses rubbed in a few more losses, in fact, because IMO they helped create the mess.

Don't care how bad I hate the coach and want him fired (whoever that coach might be) I will never pull for the team to lose....EVER!! Those kids put 12 months of blood, sweat and sometimes tears into the game. I want them to succeed for them....they are the ones that have hard earned equity in the program.

While I can't personally pull against the Vols, I'm broad minded enough to understand the reasoning behind their logic. It is much akin to a King Solomon situation, where those that truly love are willing to sacrifice for the long term good of the loved one. I don't agree with their view, but I can understand the reasoning without ridiculing them.

You may not think that they are Vol fans, but you are wrong about that. Several are long term donors and season ticket holders who have never waivered through the last decade. They are life long fans who are convinced that one more loss will be the end of Butch. As awful as the loss is to them in the short term, they feel that the long term positive welfare of the program would be worth the short term negative from the loss.

I asked several of them last weekend if they'd be pulling for a loss if they knew that Butch's situation would be evaluated at the end of the season instead of after every game. They all replied No, they would pull for a win.

Edit: Actually what I posted was not 100% accurate. There was one individual who thought that a loss to UK would be a necessary requirement for termination even at the end of the season.

I agree, Tnphil.
