Geno is a lot of things but I just don't believe sex fiend is one of them. Sounds like a grab for either $'s or someone needs their 15 minutes. He might have done it but I will wait and see.

I heard an interesting conversation on the radio the other day about some.....disturbing things.  It was discussed here on local radio that it is sort of "known" that there are gay womens programs and straight programs.  The talk on the radio was that this had alot to do with Pat not continuing the rivalry with Uconn.  That Uconn did not represent the same type of family values that UT does.  I know there are a fair number of gay women in basketball (not that there is anything wrong with that)...I never thought there would be "gay" and "straight" programs though.  I guess if you're gay, you might want to be at a program with others like yourself.  I am sure that no program is completely one way or the other and not sure how true it all is.

I don't think that is true. Pat is a gay woman herself (although I don't think she is publicly 'out') and so is Holly Warlick. I think what you heard is probably a UT fan trying to stand on some sort of false moral code to explain why they ended the rivalry. I don't want to talk bad about our fan base but that'd be exactly something that something that a UT fan would opine because that fan might be homophobic and think that ending such a rivalry based on such a reason would be a valid reason. Pat ended the rivalry because she thought Geno cheated to get Maya Moore... it's that simple.

Some of the other programs have spread rumors that Pat was anti-gay for a long time as a negative recruiting tactic but that's just not true at all. It's pretty well known in the UT community that Pat is gay... at least that's what I've always been told.

I didn't hear that so I'm not sure what they are talking about but I still don't think that's even remotely true.

And I never heard that Pat was gay....surprised to say the least.  I am not a womens basketball fan so I don't keep up with the inside scoop on stuff but I am very surprised to hear that.  Shocked even.  Guess I live in a cave.

I've never heard any definitive word that Pat was gay, but it's something I have long suspected. At the time the UT-UConn rivalry was ended the only thing I had heard Pat say was words to the effect that "Geno knows what he did." I had formed a kind of theory that Geno was using the fact that Pat was gay in negative recruiting.

I have never heard her say that she is, so it's really just hearsay (but I'm pretty confident in what I've been told). However the new HC, Holly Warlick, is openly gay.

I, too, always thought the rivalry ending had something to do with the whole gay thing.

The opinion that most media have formed has to do with Maya Moore being courted by ESPN while in Bristol on a recruiting visit.

It is possible that some negative recruiting towards Pat as gay figured into it... but it certainly wasn't the other way around where Pat ended the series because UConn is a gay program that doesn't match up to UT's family values.

Well, I'll emphasize that my previous post was just a theory. It may have been totally due to the Moore incident. I don't follow it all that closely so I really didn't know anything about Moore and any shady dealings. I just remember at the time that it was kind of hush-hush and cryptic so that was the gut reaction I had.

I may be completely wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Pat is not gay. I've been told that those rumors are completely false.

I believe what I've been told, but I agree that it's a lot of conjecture either way. I think it's safe to say that she's not publicly gay if she is gay. I think the bottom line is that it doesn't matter either way whether she is or isn't but a lot of UT fans sure do make a big deal out of it.

That would be shocking to me, though certainly possible.  I've heard she is for so long.  Of course you've got much closer access than I ever will, not that one can tell by looking... unless of course you have special equipment...

Nah...I have no access. I use to have some sources within the program but they've since moved on. Once I realized that my role in journalism would likely always be community journalism (mostly by choice), I stopped following the program as closely. With that said, I do believe the couple of folks who've said this to be knowledgeable about the situation, but who's to say that they're not just making an effort to "save her image"?

Hey, where'd you find that?  Everytime I look for one on sharperimage.com, it says they're sold out.
