Big 10 in football. How and why is that conference so much better in basketball than the SEC? I still consider the Big 10 a football conference. Why can't the SEC get more talented basketball players?

Just speculating, but it might be because more kids play basketball in the the northern states and when it comes time to go to college, they stay local.

Yep.  Major metros like NY, Philly, Chicago, and Detroit are pretty much wastelands when it comes to blue chip football recruits.  But they churn out a TON of hoops talent.

And to add to this- here in our part of the country, the best of the best are ALL going to Kentucky right now.  Period.  They are a black hole.  They buy take whoever they want, and the rest of the SEC has to make do with the leftovers.
