We had to put down Smokey, just 28 days short of his 15th birthday

Through 4 different homes in 3 different states he always made our house a home, always staking his claim as king of the house.
Of all though he seemed happiest here in bubbaville, prancing when we would walk the neighborhood.

No matter how the day had been, to be met by a happy, smiling pup with his Cairn kisses made the day's issues fade away.  Then we would go on the long walks he so loved.

Sometimes he just loved to get out in the snow.  This is one of my favorite pics, the unbridled joy

In the end, he was nearly blind (though three trips to the UGA Vet School clinic helped) and he suffered dementia but what took the life out of his eyes was a tumor in his mouth that slowly restricted his ability to eat.  Mrs PV did her best to nurse him back to health but it was not to be.

He was and will always be loved.
He was my pup

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad, though, that he gave you some great memories.

Very sorry to hear that.  My dog Henry (that you met at the tailgate last year) is almost 14, so I know the day is coming sooner rather than later for him.

You and Carla will have wonderful memories....Smokey will be missed.   Thinking of you!!!!   You know, you turned me onto Cairns and now I have my Daisy.  They are a special breed and I am so glad I got one!

Sorry to hear this Pirate.  I lost my namesake Bandit in 2010 and it was really tough.  My dog was 15 at the time and I'd had her since she was a pup.  They really do help light up your home.   If it's any consolation, I still get a lift just by seeing pictures of my old dog, and the great memories they bring.  I think you will find this is so also.

We probably have close to a thousand pictures, and movies.  We've been watching a few of those tonight.  "Silly dog" seems to be a consistent comment.

I don't have a dog, but we lost a 14 year old cat that we had since she was small enough to fit in one hand. It's very sad. We still say 'you remember when she....".
I'm sorry OJ, I know you will miss him for a long time.

Sorry for the loss. Losing a pet is like losing a family member. I've got a Blue Tick that's 12 years old and she's having health issues. Her name is Dixie and I will really miss her when she's gone!

I'm so sorry to hear that - we love our dogs too, and had to put one down a few years ago.  I know that's tough ...
