251  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I share the trepidation of TRO....this team is on: November 16, 2015, 01:46:17 EST
schizophrenic ....I don't understand how we can play so well against the likes of OU, Bama and Ga and struggle against SC and one of the worst teams in the nation N Texas (24 points was a struggle and they moved the ball up and down the field almost at will).    Our offense is anemic against some terrible defenses recently which doesn't inspire me to anticipate great performances for these last 2 games. Dobbs is not improved at all as a passer and he's seemed timid running the ball the past 2 games and if he's throwing poorly (pray no int's) and not running effectively we are toast.
252  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Patience is a virtue. on: November 11, 2015, 01:48:02 EST

253  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Yeah I was yelling "that should be a fumble" but was so frustrated at the on: November 02, 2015, 05:35:53 EST
fact that they called it a penalty that I hadn't thought about the repercussions from over turning it regarding the fumble.
254  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Oops just saw the Tejas outcome, I guess Meatchicken would be good. :) on: November 02, 2015, 02:43:06 EST

255  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'm with BDV, I get the real-time flag but how does the replay official screw it on: November 02, 2015, 01:55:27 EST
up??? That's my biggest frustration with replay....sticking with the original call even when clearly WRONG....what's the point of wasting time and money if they're not going to ensure the call is made correctly???
256  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Great and enjoyable game! As to the comments about receivers on: November 02, 2015, 01:51:30 EST
I think we have some very good receivers it's just that Dobbs tends throw a lot of passes really high (I'm very glad that there have been so few INTs) and/or low, behind etc. I remember well Von having very good run skills when he catches the ball in stride but we seldom get to see those skills (remember Smith against Ga) because they have to jump, twist, dive or stop so often. I wish Dobbs would get better, and he has at completions (but much of that is attributable to receivers IMO making very good catches, Dobbs has gotten better of at least giving them an opportunity to make good catches) but lots of room for improvement in hitting guys in stride. We should win out fairly comfortably....8-4 sounds good! Now if we can get the Longhorns in a bowl and whip their butts in a humiliating fashion, it would be a great end to a good season!
257  Sports / VTTW Message Board / YES....and the vicotry cigars. I hate PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: October 30, 2015, 09:01:40 EDT

258  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Their QB has a great arm but he is not good at reading a D, he tends on: October 30, 2015, 08:15:23 EDT
to throw into cover a lot (ergo more INTs than TDs) and it's supposed to rain (here anyway, I would expect there too) so I think we should have at least one INT. They have a quick RB but the OL isn't stellar, I think if we can contain Henry (relatively speaking of course) we shouldn't get hurt by Boom. If we are ready to play and not expecting a win I think we should win with a score in the realm of UT 31   UK 13.
259  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Richt looking desperate and foolish IMO "if" this guy plays a on: October 30, 2015, 05:07:50 EDT
significant amount of time....throwing someone with essentially 0 experience into their biggest game of the year is not wise IMHO.
260  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Great big, DEEP mudhole !!! on: October 26, 2015, 06:50:34 EDT

261  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I think we definitely showed that we on: October 26, 2015, 03:58:37 EDT
have the talent to compete with just about anyone, we're still a few players away from having the required talent level at every position along with the required depth. The biggest difference I saw Sat was the OL play...we definitely need more talent and depth there in order to be able to impose our will and protect our QB at crunch time.
262  Sports / VTTW Message Board / It'll take a miracle....so here's hoping that our O is miraculous and on: October 21, 2015, 01:47:32 EDT
Dobbs makes the Tide D look silly and keeps their O off the field and wears their D down and Vols win 30 - 13.
263  Sports / VTTW Message Board / It's painfully obvious that Peyton's injuries have on: October 19, 2015, 08:25:37 EDT
become to debilitating for him to be as effective as he, and we, are used to...he should have retired last year.
264  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I joked he couldn't stand the thought of getting whipped again by UT and on: October 14, 2015, 01:40:58 EDT
that's why he ducked out when he did.
265  Sports / VTTW Message Board / IMO they've been tenacious in each game, I put the OU on: October 13, 2015, 07:53:28 EDT
I got to disagree Volman. You say they were tenacious. They were. But why not in the previous 5 games. Why now, why not then? They could be 6-0. Why did they not play like that against OU, UF And Arky? Good questions to ask the coach.

and Fla losses more on the coaching staff....and on Dobbs, he didn't play all out in those other two games, I'm not sure if that was by design or if he was reticent about taking over the game like he did Sat. We've played good enough to be undefeated (it's not like we were dominated), we just didn't make a play here and there when the other guys did. We still need more play makers, on both sides of the ball, and hopefully recruiting will supply them.
266  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Officiating???? on: October 12, 2015, 04:56:35 EDT
The worst call on Saturday night was the lack of a PI call on the attempted pass to the corner of the end zone before our field goal.  That should have been First Down on the 2. The UGA defender had his hand almost inside of the facemask and the Ref is looking right at the play and just signaled incomplete.  When you have your hand in front of the receivers face and another hand on his back I believe that is the definition of INTERFERENCE!!!!!!!

IMO the absolute worst was the block in the back that had already been called only to be reclassified as a block in the side ....all on a punt return for a TD! Even Danielson admitted it was a terrible call....I can't fathom how that occurs!
267  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Well, it was great to be on the on: October 12, 2015, 04:14:43 EDT
winning side of one of those games!!! The best thing I can say about our guys is they are tenacious! I was really getting frustrated in the first half with Dobbs actually making some good throws and our guys were dropping them and then the Hurd fumble I just shook my head and told my wife that maybe this is the way we finally win....come from behind with everything going against us, I didn't really expect it but it just appeared that nothing was going our way. Dobbs took over in the second half....no one can question his heart, his arm yes, but not his heart!

Looking ahead....our DBs are not good, Mosley in particular gets burnt anytime someone wants to go deep, and apparently none of them can catch a ball (I think I recall around 5 would be INTs dropped) and tackling remains ugly. I still am not inspired with play calling as a whole, we just continued to throw screens when they were going no where and nearly had a couple picked. Let's all hope Dobbs can continue to work his magic because it looks like we're gonna need him to throw for 300 and run for 120 every game. Gutsy win and congratulations to all (what about Jones and Hall???).  GO BIG ORANGE!!!
268  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Evidently the penalty cannot stop the clock, so if the clock is running on: October 12, 2015, 02:06:04 EDT
and the penalty stops the clock then they penalize the O by running off 10 seconds, if however the clock wasn't already running at the time of the penalty then they do not run off the time.
269  Sports / VTTW Message Board / The reality of the situation, as stated before the start of the season, is that on: October 08, 2015, 07:54:45 EDT
the talent level when BJ was hired was the poorest I've ever seen it and I've been a fan a long time...this is a fact! Butch is playing against coaches and programs, exception being Fla, who have not been through multiple coaches and a severe reduction in talent level like we have and even Fla's situation was better than what Butch inherited. Just look at the breakdown someone posted earlier regarding the OL depth.... . We haven't had a good QB in years, we're just beginning to get these corrected and we need to be patient for at least 2 more years. Grant it I have been very disappointed with play calling and some game decisions but to get where we want to be we can't start shooting our own and throwing the coaches, players and program under the bus because the media, who only cares about sensational news, takes all of this and paints UT in a very negative light and we will facilitate our own demise..
270  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Exactly.....Dobbs inability to hit targets in stride and to place on: October 08, 2015, 06:27:16 EDT
It does not matter how many or how good the WRs are, if the QB cannot get the ball consistently to them where they can run after catch, it is not the WRs fault. The passing attack is ineffective because the QB is inaccurate. Period.

the ball where the WR can continue to run instead of leaping, diving or stopping has very little to do with timing, he couldn't do it last year and doesn't do it in practice...he simply isn't a good passing QB....he's a warrior and gives his all but he simply doesn't possess the talent required.
271  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Tennessee beats Georgia on: October 05, 2015, 09:09:20 EDT
I've got a gut feeling. (Actually I have two gut feelings; I had sausage gravy biscuits for breakfast, which explains the other gut feeling...why do I do that on a Monday morning?)

Tennessee traditionally plays Mark Richt teams tough, regardless of who is coaching the Vols. Richt probably laid the egg he's good for every season in Saturday's game against Bammer, but who says he won't lay another this week? It certainly wouldn't be the first time. And despite the coaches' botches and blunders, Tennessee has had opportunities to win every game they've played this season. Special teams continue to play lights out, Medley's inconsistencies withstanding, and defense has been solid, the Arkansas game excepted. Tennessee's offense was unreasonably bad against a pretty terrible Arkansas defense, and I'd like to see some series worked in for Dormady; Jones did say before the season started that he planned to play him some. It's time to prove that true.

At some point, though, everything has to click. And Georgia has been damned lucky to escape with wins in each of the last three years -- especially the last two. I think Tennessee wins.

Yeah said the same thing yesterday to my son and guys at church....I really felt we would probably lose to OU and Fla, I knew we had a decent chance to win but really expected to lose but for some reason I think Ga may come in still licking their wounds and as you said at some point things have to click for us and we're at home!
272  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I'd feel better if it weren't to rain, rain has to favor their huge OL. on: October 02, 2015, 07:01:13 EDT

273  Sports / VTTW Message Board / WOW...it wouldn't take much of a shift north and we will need scuba gear to play on: October 01, 2015, 09:48:27 EDT

274  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Arkansas' run D stat is bolstered by the fact that Tech and A&M like on: October 01, 2015, 05:28:24 EDT
to throw the ball I would imagine. Still, it will be a tough game IMO. IF we would develop some play action on first down to keep the D honest and use that to hit the TE and some slants it would have the impact of keeping the LBs honest and aid the run game....it's so critical that we become balanced offensively in order to have the season we want to finish the season. By the same token Arky likes to run play action and our LBs and DBs/Safeties cannot get sucked up and allow them to hit us over the top....the D will have to be very disciplined.
275  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Maybe the Hogs won't be on: September 30, 2015, 09:26:33 EDT
You may get your wish. If Hurricane Joaquin takes the track depicted by the biggest U.S. weather model, it may rain buckets Saturday evening.

able to see Dobbs slashing between the rain drops.
