...that the champs of the SEC and Big 12 will meet in a bowl game if neither team is in the national semifinals under the proposed new NCAA format.

First of all, it's hard to imagine neither the top SEC team nor top Big 12 team being one of the top four teams in America in any given year.

But that aside, I wonder how much the Big Ten had to pay to get out of the annual ass-kicking of their conference champion at the hands of the SEC?

But the way this works, is even if the SEC champ and/or the Big 12 champ is in the semifinal playoff game, then "another deserving team" from each conference will be chosen for the SEC-Big 12 bowl game.  So, its going to happen each year starting after the 2014 regular season.

By the way... I love how Delaney tries to stand on some soapbox about how the SEC is too much of a sports conference and how his schools do it right all while his bellcow school just released word that their major athletic programs self reported FORTY THREE secondary violations in the past year. Lane Kiffin got crucified for 18 or whatever. Where's the freakin' outcry??

Now the big argument is where it will be played.  While the Big 12 will be pushing for Dallas, Houston, or even St Louis, I really hope it's in N.O.  As a fan, I would be much more likely to take a week and make a vacation of that trip than I would Dallas.  If it's going to be in a Big 12 town, I would prefer San Antonio.  It has better weather and much more to do than any other Big 12 city.

PAC 12/Big 10 have working agreement for bowls and OCC games, now we see the start of Big12/SEC agreement. Next to fall in the 4 super conference the ACC....FSU flirting with Big 12 and Canes will soon follow. SEC will take 2 ACC teams for 15 and 16. Climer has article talking about that very subject today. 4 16 team conferences that control NCAA football is coming sooner than later. Big 12 just may go from dead conference to super power with a few right moves. Any working agreement with SEC and adding the right mix of teams henceforth would be huge.
