If you had gone on out about 2 blocks to the Pizza Palace for dinner, you would definitely have taken a big step in that direction.

Isn't Chandler's special?

He's ok.  He is actually back in Afghanistan for his second tour of duty.  This one is scheduled for 9 months, meaning he will be home in late January.

He actually got married on Cape Cod on April 21........and then deployed to Afghanistan on April 28.  It's the Army way.

Once he gets back from Afghanistan in January, he'll stay with the 101st at Fort Campbell until October of 2013 when he will go to Fort Gordon (Augusta, GA) for career school.  From there he is likely going to end up with a unit at Fort Bragg (Fayetteville, NC).

This deployment is a bit different in nature.  He is with a small group of officers who are training the officers of the Afghan Army to take over their own troops.  He is training the officer in the Afghan Army unit to do the same job he does, which is in the communications field.  He is near Jalalabad, which is due east of Kabul on the Pakistani border.

Billy is still a 1LT, and should be promoted to Captain sometime in the fall.  He is right at 36 months service now, meaning a nice pay raise for the 3 years service, and then he'll get another one when he goes to Captain status.

Thanks for asking, by the way.

That's the next place on our list.  And yes, Chandler's is special.  But they have slap-yo-mamma good food.

Glad to hear he's doing well, 101.
