Exactly. Because MSU is always exactly like it was when Fulmer and Majors were the coach. They're not in the top 20 now. They don't have a good QB. They don't have a really good up and coming coach either. Because that's what I recall from year's past. That MSU was always bad and we always squashed them. OMFG

Wait...what? So if I understand you correctly, MSU sucked for years and years- but now they have a good coach who's got them headed in the right direction, so losing to them is understandable and forgivable. So at what point should we expect those same results from OUR coach? You know, the one with the biggest recruiting budget and the best facilities in America. Next year? With Bray, Hunter, and Patterson all likely gone and road games at Oregon, Florida, and Bama? Nope, obviously not next year. We're just lil' ole Tennessee- we can't be expected to lose good players and just reload like those big time programs do. So lets give him yet another year. Damn Kiffin, this is all his fault.

Yes you're right. I would actually be okay with hiring Mullen, but I'm not sure he can recruit at the top level and MSU is actually under investigation. But clearly, beating MSU is a challenge for our current team. Our offense played well enough to win last night, but we struggled on D. Which is exactly what happens when you completely replace a defensive staff. Hm, yes, coaching changes always work, don't they?

And if your current coach isn't getting it done, the solution isn't to stick with him out of fear that his replacement might fail as well. You have to keep trying.
