Brando says that Gruden "fits the profile"

The profile of Saban and Carroll...former NFL coaches that did well in college.  Except he was more successful in the NFL than either.  He does lack the previous college exp of Saban though.

I of course had thought of this before, but not really stressed it that much.  But it does explain a lot of the interest in Gruden, and also why a search firm might tap even Kiffin if given certain criteria.

He would be far from the worst choice.  Not at the top  of my list, but would be really exciting to get him.
