Come home, greet the family. Chat with the wife and play with our son a bit.
Retire to the family room to watch some tv while dinner is wrapping up. It seems all is right in the world.
Then I pick up my Harmony One remote and see the horrific remnants of my once mighty Logitech tool. The color LCD is screen is shattered.
I scream in terror and my wife says "oh... yeah... "
The horror.

I knew there was a reason I always stuck with the $7 universal remotes at Walmart as opposed to throwing down big money on a Harmony. My son's Xbox delivered the dreaded "ring of death" a couple of days ago just as I was about to settle down for some NCAA Football. My schoolgirl scream may have been nearly as loud as yours. I have to figure out some reason to ground him from video games for a while so I can have my console back.

While I will attest that Harmony remotes live up to the hype, next time I'm not going to drop over $200 on the latest and greatest. It was my first Harmony so I got the top of the line (at the time). The next one I get will be within the realm of reason, as I've seen some good options around the $50 range.

I got the Harmony 700, which is just enough to control all my stuff. But if I add just one more component, I'll have to upgrade. I've seen it recently for as low as 79 bucks. I paid $150 at the time.

Bite your tongue. You can never have too much tech, and you can always stand to get a bigger TV. These truths are self-evident.
