QB: Bray really was off all day.  The early pick was just a bad decision.  In the 2nd half he got fixated on Hunter.  He rarely even looked at another reciever for entire series.  Later the blitzes just rattled him.  His 2nd pick it looked like he got hit as he passed.
RB: Neal ran well.  He ran well enough for us to win.  He also blocked well.  Lane did not run well and missed at least one blitz pick up.
WR: CP played well but needs to work on his routes.  Hunter had some drops.  He and Bray seemed on different pages at times.  ZRO made a nice catch on a deflection.
OL:  too many motion penalties.  Tiny needs to settle down.  Thomas, for the first time this year for an OL got out on a screen and made a block.  Really had difficulty picking up the blitzes late.

DL:  played pretty well but didn't contain, again.
LB:  played very well at times but over pursued and contain was a 4 letter word.  AJ had a solid night, perhaps his best game but even he allowed their QBto get outside him on a blitz.
CB:  covered pretty well but can't get off a block.  2nd straight game where Gordon was not a big help at Star.  Teague lost contain multiple times.
Special teams were ok but missed yet another EP

Coaching:  nice catch by Dooley.  They dialed up the pressure and we didn't adjust to hot routes.
Defense we got gashed repeatedly.  We never stopped the fly sweep.  We STILL can't contain a QB.

Their receivers block really, really well.  Ours, not so much.

I thought Bray started slow, but really settled down a played well from about the mid-1st to mid-3rd, and then he pretty much dialed it in.  I did notice that he really didn't handle the gator pressure well.  I think they came at him from directions he did not expect and startled him into some bad decisions a few times.  They may well have picked some tendencies up on film and exploited them.

J Smith had perhaps his best game.  It looks like he is starting to get a bit more aggresive.

I DISAGREE STRONGLY that it was poor effort!!!!!!!!!!
You forget we were in the game into the 4th.

I also believe the true turning point was not going for it on 4th and one at mid field in the 4th quarter.  We went for it on 4th and twelve earlier.

One thing the defense needs work on is back side discipline.  The lack of it hurt us all night long, both in running ( fly sweeps and the long wildcat TD) and the passing game (example was the play Randolph was hurt on though to be fair we all out blitzed on the play).

The other thing the defense needs work on is QB contain.  The lack of it against NCS it resulted in just first downs but against UF it cost us TDs.

On offense blitz recognition by Bray and the receivers needs a lot of work.

We lost by 17 at home at night to a mediocre team.

Wadr holy shizzle how can you not call that a poor effort.

YOU can disagree all you want, when Florida was driving on us and tied the game, we let up............................and the players hung their heads and then quit, the OL with about 8 minutes to go wasn't even pushing to block on a Damn run play to NEAL!  The game was over late 3rd/early 4th quarter, cause our guys got punched in the mouth and quit instead of fighting back.

Defensively i agree about discipline, and the lack of tackling on the QB........AND EVERYONE ELSE................JUST HORRIBLE
and on route adjustments on blitzes for sure.

I don't know if I would blame the effort as much as Dooley/Sunseri's failure to adjust in the 2nd half.  After all, we looked very, very good in the first half- no lack of effort there.  At halftime, I was conviced that we were about to run them off the field.  But then they switched to a zone read blocking scheme in the 2nd half, and we had no answer.  That is inexcusable, and serves as exhibit A in the case against Dooley.

edit- I will add that these are my impressions from watching from the bleachers.  If I were to watch the replay on TV (which I'm not), I might think differently.

I didn't mean effort as in player effort... when I hear effort used in that context, I think about the overall effort of the team, including coaches. It was a poor effort. They were the better team in the first half but couldn't get out of their own way, and then got shellacked in the second.

UT had Florida on the ropes and didnt finish them off due to lack of depth on defense,I think they just ran out of gas...The announcers were talking about Florida rotating in players in the 2nd qtr on D to keep the starters fresh in the 4th.About the middle of the 3rd,UT had a 7 point lead and the ball on the 47 of Fla after stopping them..then instead of calling a running play or something safe they go for it all and Bray gets rushed and ends up int grounding the ball and he went down hill from there not to mention 2 dropped balls on two different possessions by Hunter on 3rd dwn..Bray was the biggest disappointment in the 2nd half..He let a sophomore unknown come in and show him up in his own house..all they can do is learn from it and move on both players and coaches..it is a tough loss but may pay dividends later in the season

I agree about them getting gassed.  A friend whose football knowledge I respect pointed this out last night.  We still lack depth on D, particularly at LB, but also at DL.  We seem to have depth at DB, but we may not have used it as much as we could, because they looked really gassed on a couple plays.

The drops by Hunter were disappointing.  It tells me that he is not back all the way yet (perhaps still a bit tentative) and we can hope he improves and regains some mental toughness over the course of the season.

Overall I think you and I are about on the same page.  It's a very disappointing loss that could have been a W, but there is still something to build on the rest of the season if the team responds well.
