...how would it rank historically across the entire SEC? They're now the only SEC team ever to give up 38+ in 6 straight league games. Not even Hal Mumme could pull that one off. And Mumme faced some pretty good offenses back then, too- UT with Peyton, UF under Spurrier, and UGA was pretty good on that side of the ball as well. We've faced no offense anywhere near that good this year. UGA is probably the best, but they're not exactly a juggernaut. Is this the worst defense in SEC history?
Hard to say. Those stats are not tracked very well. Even my media guide didn't track Tennessee's "points allowed". I had to piece it together from season by season records, which only had total points. The NCAA site for official stats does track it, but only back to 2004.
It would be hard to find out, IMO, but I didn't look that hard either. It might be lurking on the interwebz somewhere.
