If we're criticizing our offense let's discuss their offense as well. It's pretty putrid - they really don't do anything well on offense. Our defense is much better than any they have faced this year. Let's also not forget that the best offense they have faced so far is pass happy East Carolina. IMO we run the ball and put 21 on the board somehow, we win the game. One of those TDs may have to be by special teams or defense.
I know...they scored 10 on UT last year and won. But that's on the staff. They have to learn from that game - can't whip a team for 3 qtrs. and only kick Field goals.

for this game but in order to be successful for the rest of the schedule, a legit passing game that forces the D to cover the entire field. I think it will be a tough game if we can't effectively pass the ball.

If we can get Pig into the game I like our chances better. He was our most consistent receiver gaining separation last year - he flat got open
Ifmtheynpack the box as I expect, release the TE or slot across the middle.
Back shoulder North
Use the speed we have at WR to stretch the field occasionally. DOESN't necessarily have to be a completion

Apples and Bowling balls......Comparing what Florida did against KY and what they will do against us is night and day. My gosh, we had trouble with KY when we had Manning and talent out the A$$....same with Vandy. Don't believe it, go back and watch some of those games. Football is a week to week game...what happened the previous week has no bearing on this week.

We also hung 50 on Kentucky last year. I doubt they suddenly acquired a half dozen NFL players on their D. It's reasonable to think UF is offensively challenged. BTW, the UF offense only scored 7. One TD was from the UF defense. But you're right...one game by itself can be meaningless. So let's add that UF looked pretty bad against ECU also, and the Gata offense was really bad all last year. With every game you add, it gets harder to dismiss as a fluke. The burden of proof is on Florida to show their offense is improved after last year, and there is a two game trend where Florida's offense has struggled against teams worse than us on D. That's enough to give me optimism. If you need more proof, check back in Saturday night. It will then be a three game trend.

I am not going to be one bit surprised if Tennessee goes to Gainesville and lays an eggs but, my goodness, the defeatist attitude kills me.

I'm still trying to get over the old geezer that said that Neyland was too loud! And if he wasn't a really old guy, for shame!

Don't think it is a defeatist attitude, CW. Like I said in another thread, so many of us have bought the hype way too many times and been sorely disappointed. I think many are in the frame of mind that I am right now, a show me attitude. Show us and then we'll completely buy in.

True about a lot, but I haven't been hyped since 2008. Well, I would say I was excited for Florida 2012, but I didn't really believe in Dooley deep down even though I thought we had a shot in that game. I definitely overestimated our chances in 2008. I wasn't even that upset about Florida last year, though most fans were. The reason is that we were still a really bad team in terms of talent. So we lost to a bad team, so what? We really and truly weren't much better IMO. This year is different. We finally have the talent to match Florida, and so we should expect a win. I'm not hyped, just way more confident than I was last year.

FL had a lot more talent than we did last year. They had 4 or 5 of their OL drafted from last years team. How many guys did we get drafted? Truth is Muschamp should have done a lot better than he did with that group.

I'm not worried about the talent level. My main concern is with those calling the shots. They are whom I want to "show me".

Well, I'm with you there - but I'll assess the staff after the season.

definitely muschamp wasted offensive talent That he let Driskell stay in past the first quarter last year is a huge indictment of his ability as a HC. Driskell was the only reason we led. I say first quarter because he had two other games to evaluate him that same year and IIRC, Driskell had struggled against creampuffs. It wasn't just me...Adams wrote a column shortly after the game that said "Will Muschamp finally figure out what opposing coaches, media, Florida fans and fans of opposing teams already knew and pulled Driskell in the 4th quarter". I have no idea what Muschamp was thinking...thank God he was never our coach.
