Did they ever explain on TV why there wasn't a 10 second runoff there?  The previous play gained a first down, but ended inbounds, so the clock should have restarted.  UGA was out of timeouts, so they couldn't stop it.  So why no runoff?

UGA spiked the ball after the 1st down with 10 seconds to go, stopping the clock at 6 seconds.

Yep, just watched the replay.  Danielson was moaning about how "too much" time came off the clock when it was spiked and that UGA should argue for a second or two be added back to the clock.  Seems many were confused about the rule.  Richt threw his headset, as if he thought game was over.  Danielson also said "that's the ballgame".

How awful would it have been had UGA scored and eventually won... To have lost on a technicality of the Dooley rule.

They almost did score. Randolph made a play on that throw or it's 6. The CB was beaten

I knew the rule, I just don't remember them spiking the ball.  Of course, I was down on my knees praying at the time, so my view may have been blocked by the people in front of me.

and the penalty stops the clock then they penalize the O by running off 10 seconds, if however the clock wasn't already running at the time of the penalty then they do not run off the time.
