games without fans. I can't imagine a game at Neyland with no fans. Fans are so crucial to momentum and getting the team motivated. Would just be weird. However, I want this season to be played. Would be interesting. Many of our rivals are replacing their QB's. Oklahoma, UGa.. to name a few. I just hope we find the right guy to open up behind center. If not, most of our top opponents will have better freshmen QB's than JG is now. UGa has had an amazing stable of QB's come through lately. We can't find one. Looking at recruiting, Bama, UGa, and LSU just reload. According to Rivals we had the seventh class in the nation. But that was just the 5th best class in the SEC. Crazy. Definitely hard to make up ground. https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2020/all-teams/football

So many so called sports guru's out there have so much time on their hands right now I've seen several different options for paying college football....From playing in the heat of the Summer....to playing a shorter schedule this Fall such as only play conference games and no OOC games...Read yesterday that Chris Fowler said they might play a condensed schedule next Spring.
I have no idea what will happen down the road but right now I'll be surprised if they play football this Fall....Hope they do.

Harrison Bailey is a five star. How many games he played? JG was pretty highly ranked as well. Hope Bailey is the man. Just saying, these other schools have had a good run of qb's lately. I think it's our turn.

Georgia's last QB was over rated IMO. Stunk it up against Junior, that's why they lost and why they missed the playoffs IMO, though I think LSU drills them regardless and they likely don't get a pass back in like bammer even without the loss to USC. Only bammer is priveleged enough to lose the SECC and still get back in the championship game. But back on topic, his name was Jake Fromm. I actually had to google it, because that's how forgettable he was. He wasn't any great prize IMO. Will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft, though NFL teams are always hungry for QBs. Was he better than JG? Of course he was, but not as good as you seem to think.

They even had Plumlee recruited, the Ole Miss qb until he saw the light. Bailey has a lot of pressure on him to measure up. Fromm only led them to the NCAA final as freshman and a Bowl win over Baylor. You see Bailey doing the same for the Vols? I hope so. I just wonder if he will start from the git-go. Most of these good ones have.

Right. And Eason went to Washington and did okay I guess, will be interesting to see who goes higher in the draft, as both have declared. Fields has lit it up at OSU, and you really have to question Kirby Smart's judgement in letting Fields go for Fromm. The bottom line is out of those three, what do they have to show for it? A good rookie year from Eason and what I would graciously call an above average career by Fromm. Big deal! And since you mention it, uga did haul in an exceptional amount of QB talent. Bammer had Tua, who BTW did not with a national championship, in fact, he stunk it up. LSU won the lottery with Burrow. Yes those teams did well, but look how many crap QBs Florida has had. Texas A&M can't seem to get any consistency. Hellinski was the next great thing at Junior. Until he wasn't. I'll grant you this, it's unusual in the still run-oriented SEC to see traditional schools like bammer and LSU airing it out so much. It worked for LSU, not so much for bammer. Yes Uga had a great run of QBs, but they stayed mostly run-first, and while Fromm managed the game well enough for them to be really competitive, in the end Smart hasn't done anything better than Richt Richt also went 12-1 and won an SEC championship, and I know you are going to say he never won a playoff game, but there weren't any semifinals back then. If there had been, uga would have been in and very likely won the first round, if not the whole shooting match.

Good post.....I coached under a great head coach that always said..."Show me a soft offense and I'll show you a soft defense to go with it." And he was right. Notice how Bama's defense hasn't been the same since they went to a pass happy offense? Ever wonder why the Big 12 plays little defense? LSU's defense wasn't much this past season until the last 4-5 games of the season and they got more physical. I bet you are about to see Bama go back to a more physical offense.

The notion that Tau stunk it up is silly.

Good post Bandit Vol. You are right about they were still a run first team at UGa. I always new that teams like LSU and Bama would be scary if they got a potent passing game. Actually Tua did win a NC. Remember when he came in for Hurts and smoked UGa in the second half of the NC game? Tua getting hurt didn't help them either. See what Henry did for the Titans, I really don't want Bama to go back to that type of physical run game. It wouldn't bode well for us SEC teams.

In the championship game? Are you kidding? Bammer only scored two TDs and he also threw two picks. Was held to 234 yards passing, by far the worst game of his career. What about that doesn't stink? This is against Clemson, a good defense that had a whole season of film on him. Their defensive game plan was brilliant, they took away the middle and forced him to throw to the sidelines, he wasn't used to it, and yes, absolutely stunk it up. You may be giving him credit for the one good half against the dawgs, to which, three things. 1. They were not prepared for him. 2. Jalen Hurts was that bad of a passer. and 3. It was against uga, the biggest choke artist in all of college football. Tua had a blessed game that night. He gives up a huge sack in OT after the dawgs score a FG, taking them out of FG range, then an uga DB absolutely blows a coverage. How hard is it to hit a man in stride that has opened a 10 yard gap on a DB? Was Tua that good, or uga that bad? I'm not saying Tua isn't a great QB. He is. But when it was all on the line against Clemson he couldn't get it done. No true frosh playing one half in real game situations taking a team off guard, but had to man up and do it, and couldn't. In short, yes. He stunk. What game were you watching in January 2019? I was in a hospital on heavy pain meds, and even I could tell he suxed in that game.

He had some crazy stats as far as TD's to Ints. He was killing SEC defenses. But so did Burrow. Burrow was average the year before at LSU. The he got a new OC. Amazing how much good coaching helps.
