They were 33-3 in the regular season.

I don't care what shizzle conference they are in (Conf USA for the record), that's impressive. It's hard to win that many games in bball. They mentioned that at halftime when we were up 3, and I was worried instantly about the second half.  A team that wins a lot, learns how to win.  And it bit us.

I think we showed in the first half that we could have beaten them, but they forced us into bad shots and got opens shots they hit, as well as way too many offensive rebounds and it just killed us.

The announcers stated during the game that we like to have ZZ handle the ball, not only because he is our best PG, but because it frees Vescovi up to have open shots and he is more of a shooting guard.  I did notice Vescovi taking threes off balance and while covered in the second half, so credit to FAU for figuring out our weakness there and exploiting it.

All of which is to say, if ZZ had been healthy.... who knows

Yes those two games they won with Mashack running the point were fools gold. I began to believe. Even with ZZ we were "challenged" on offense. Not enough shooters or dependable big men. Which kind of ties in with another comment I made elsewhere... We are recruiting better players but still not getting our pick of the litter everytime. We are settling at times to complete the roster. Having said that, this team with Kennedy Chandler would have been even better! Keep knocking and good things will happen!

Supposedly the portal is looking pretty enticing. I'll be curious to see if we have any success. OTOH by virtue of FAU being in the FF I suppose you don't have to win the battle for recruiting stars.
