Where money is involved, there is frequently a stench.

"Cunningham would stand to make a bonus from Hubert Davis?s performance in the NCAA Tournament. Cunningham?s contract includes a financial incentive ? $67,905.67 ? if the men?s basketball team makes the NCAA Tournament and could grow to almost $104,000".

UNC beat UCLA. That's about it.

You hear (or read) a lot about them being undefeated against quad 2 teams. The teams they defeated that were quad 2 combined for a record of 7-56 against quad 1 teams.

You should have to beat more than one "somebody" in a season to be eligible for March Madness, imo.

I'm sure that Bubba had nothing to do with UNC making it, though. (wink, wink)
He recused himself from all discussions and decisions involving UNC. Nothing to see here. (wink, wink)

Really, I don't get whining if you are trying to be the 68th team in the tournament. Does anyone that far down in the rankings have much to cry about. Flip a coin. Hell why not just expand it to 128 teams.

Tourney is about to go to 76 teams anyway. Might even start next year.

Eh. Not much different with the play ins.

When Virginia lost in the first round as a #1 seed, I congratulated a graduate of said institution on their recovery the following year (won the NCAA).

She decided to take offense that I had even mentioned the (embarassing) 1st round departure, and tried to claim it was due to the expansion of the tourney from 64 to 68.  Which made no sense.  Wimmen be craaaazy!

I don't think auto qualifiers should be forced to play potentially 3 games in 6 days.
