Wait- Ooltewah actually made the playoffs? I stopped keeping up when they started out something like 1-5. Autstin-East finished the season 2-7. Johnson County was 2-8. Grundy County was 2-6. Ooltewah was 2-7. Happy Valley was 1-8. Warren County was 1-7. Question: What do these teams all have in common? Answer: They all made the playoffs. TSSAA might as well just let everyone in the playoffs.

I’m like several others here. I haven’t really watched MLB since the 90’s but I’m glad that the Braves win because I have some close friends who are big time fans.
I tried watching a little, but the games are so slow that I just can’t get into it.

I’m not sure that the Kiffin hire was all Hamilton’s doing. I was told weeks before Fulmer was removed that Lane Kiffin would be the new head coach. Not being an NFL fan, I had to ask who Lane Kiffin was. According to the person who gave me that info, there were branches of the money tree that wanted LK in the position.

Former VOL Crouch starting LBer for MSU......And Walker the RB for MSU who had 5 tds and 200 yards today and one of the best RBs in the country is from right down the road from me in Arlington, TN....Was ranked the #2164 player in the country and not even in Top 100 in Tennessee. Only D-1 offer was Wake....played there 2 years and transferred to MSU.
And the rest is history.
CJH and staff will have to find some of these guys and coach them up, imo. That's gonna be the only way to begin to get back, I think.

As I understand it, this means that we cannot fill his spot with one of the 7 extra options that the NCAA approved. Players must opt out after the semester for the spot to be open for a replacement. Am I understanding correctly?

I ref'd hogh schoo;l level for several years (FB & BB) It can be tough (BB was more difficult, the game is so fast, limited area and a lot of freaking timing stuff. I preferred BB. Big guys want to sumo wrestle? Fine, unless there was an advantage being utilized. Same for the ticky tac hand checking out front - you can tell if there is an advantage being gained The one thing bug guys learned when I was on the court, leave the camping gear at home - I enforced the 3 second rule, that includes BOTH feet!
I coached high school basketball. I always said that I wanted no part of officiating it. I did try my hand at football officiating, but found that I didn't really want to do that either. With football, there are a ton of folks who don't know the rules - and most of them know that they don't know. With basketball, everyone seems to think that they are experts. Additionally, there are at least six officials on the football field but only 3 maximum in basketball - much more scrutiny. All of that in addition to the pace makes it a nightmare. I always told my players, "When you can play a perfect game and I can coach a perfect game, we can complain about officials not being perfect." I very rarely criticized officials because almost all bad calls are simply mistakes, imo. Usually they balance themselves out. Most officials I've known are simply doing the best job that they can do.

Regardless of whether they ruled that the fumble was after the ball broke the plane or not, the result of that play could not have been overturned by video review.
The rule states that there "must be a clear recovery in the immediate continuing action after the fumble to reverse the call on the field". A Tennessee defender coming out of the scrum with the football, almost a minute after the play, doesn't constitute a clear recovery in the immediate continuing action imo.
I do believe that the top teams in the SEC are favored by officials. It is simple economics - more teams in the NC playoff equates to more revenue for the league. I've said it before: I'm not a conspiracy theory person, but there's too much money on the line and I think that the office and game officials are aware of it. To that end, I would say that UGA fans need to hope that Bama loses another game - if they don't, I suspect that Bama will get the calls in the SECC game simply because a 2-loss Bama team is not likely to be included in the playoff picture (especially if Cincinnati finishes the season unbeaten).

Our O puts our D in bad spots against good teams.....D can hold out just so long and then the gates open.
That's true, but isn't it a double-edged sword? I'm not a football coach, but it seemed that all of our big plays came because the defense was not given time to get into correct alignments. Without the up-tempo, we likely don't get the TDs and aren't within 7 late in the game against this team. I'm not suggesting that your statement is incorrect. Time of possession was 40:26 to 19:34. With a defense that is paper thin in depth, that is not a good statistic but the fast-paced offense did keep us in the game longer than I expected. I'm amazed at the effectiveness of this defense given the fact that they are so thin in serviceable back-ups at basically all positions.

Heck of a fight by this Tennessee team. The final score isn't going to reflect it. It's easy to say we don't have the depth to compete for 60 minutes because it's so obviously true. But, sadly, it's a problem that's only going to exacerbate itself the next couple of years. It's quite a catch 22. We desperately need a signature win to turn the momentum on the recruiting trail, but we're so perilously thin that getting that signature win is going to prove very difficult to come by.
We must get back to the middle of the pack SEC before we can get to the top. I agree that a big win is needed, but I think the most likely path to get some depth is to find some kids with ability but who are not necessarily highly rated and coach them up. We aren't going to recruit the cream of the crop at this point, but we must have a serviceable 2-deep roster to compete week-in and week-out. I have more faith that this staff can do that than I did at the beginning of the year.

I guy that I taught with (former football coach) says that he can't be the player to recover that fumble in the endzone. I've never heard that before. Anyone know the rule?

So proud of this team so far.
The defense, considering the amount of time that they've been on the field, has played really well. I continue to be impressed by the coaching staff and the team. There's no quit in them.

You’re talking about Banks giving the extra shove (to the ground) after the dude is out of bounds? That’s always a late hit and penalty. Agreed. He was a good 3 yards OB and maintained contact. The defender has to let him go in that situation. It wasn't really violent, but it was excessive imo. I don't really have a problem with that flag. Banks has to be smarter in that situation.

Time of possession at the half: Alabama 20:33, Tennessee 9:27
Our D is gonna be sucking wind by the time this one is over (if they aren't already).
That will likely show itself in the second half as we get more and more worn down on D. I really hope that I'm wrong.
