While info is soon avaliable elswhere, I couldn't imagine not being a member of a premium pay site. I subscribe to two: Rivals and 247. I'm one of the regular posters on the Tide's Rivals site, but really like 247's bells and whistles. There I can even go to others boards war rooms free of charge and get pertinent info as needed.

They bottled up bammer's run game early Saturday...many of the rush yards by bammer came in the late second half.  Of course, the gators sold out to stop the run by bringing up a safety and cooper made them pay.  But yeah, florida looks very beatable this year.  

Their defense is one of the worst I've ever seen. They gave up the most yards during the game in the history of Gator football. To add to their misery, their QB is awful and they have a very weak running game. Mullen from Mississippi State to UF after this season???

The story that stands out for me is six of the conference's western division teams being ranked in the top 16, including four teams in the top 10. Since the inception of conference divisions, that's unprecedented for a single division to be that dominate in college football.

The other story is the continued winning ways on the field for the Aggies. The move to the SEC was a brilliant move for them both financially and in terms of talent since they continue to recruit lights out.

Honestly, 4K isn't worth it unless you're getting a really, REALLY big TV.  Like 80" or above.  If I had 3 grand set aside to buy a TV, I would instead go for a 1080P OLED.

You have to be close to see the difference, thus the larger the better. I saw it on a 55" and although some say you can only see the difference up to three feet away, it was clearly better from six to eight feet away, although they are using the very best 4k content for demonstration.

Probably so, but it's all guesswork at this point because of the lack of current 4k content, and just when more will be avaliable: that's still unanswered. Consumer Reports says hold off until anticipated price drops later this year or early next. While awesome, the OLED's I viewed were much more expensive than 3k.

Edited to say I just pulled up the link (thanks) and had not seen that model. Although only 55" and I wanted 65, I may just consider that model because of OLED which I think is awesome.

When it comes down to it, all fanbases are alike.  Every program comes up with these platitudes like "Vol for life", "all in", "family", "in call kinds of weather", etc., but when the going gets tough, they'll all bail.  And when the going gets tough and STAYS that way for a few years, a lot of fans will stop showing up altogether.  Everyone has their breaking point, especially when they can watch at home on a 65" 4K TV.

Btw, thinking of getting that exact 4k 65" Sony TV, but will hold off for price drops late this year. Almost bit the bullet and bought one a few weeks back.

The crowd left as the whipping ensued..was funny to watch because they started with a record crowd....and by the 4th, was almost empty!  So much for true fans!

OK ALL FOR THE FIRST TAILGATE OF THE YEAR......

We are going to be doing some good food again.  Skewers is the name of the game for this first tailgate.  Chicken, Beef, and Pork.....for the Chicken we are doing a proscuitto wrapped chicekn piece with manchego or fontina cheese and grape tomato skewer,  for the beef it is a filet piece with fingerling potato and asparagus (if I can find some decent asparagus) in a steak sauce, and for the pork - lime infused coconut milk marinated pork with fresh onions in a spicy chili sauce in lettuce wraps.  Yeah gonna haul out some of the best Gentleman Jack I can steal out of my bar....or just take and put in the truck....

We will probably have some breakfast samplings also...in the vein of breakfast wraps with ham, eggs, and tater tots in a cucumber tazitki sauce.  

Oh and BTW Gregg the Margarita Machine is coming home so you can pick it up.  


I hope to see you there and will welcome you with open arms.  The location is the lot at the corner of Clinch and James Agee - AKA 15th Street behind the UT Biology Annex.  (15th street is the cross street of the UT Law Building and Kingston Pike)   We will be there early as always.

I'm hungry. Emeril does it up right.

Well let me do some observational predictions right now.....there will be tailgating....firs tof all we are having one at the lot on the corner of James Agee (15th Street) and Clinch Avenue (the lot behind the Biology Annex) and we will be there probably about 8-9 AM.  Yeah I know it is early.  And we sneer at RAIN!!!!!!

I remember that first tailgate of the Tide and Vol fans at the credit union parking lot. Celtic and the VOL doc (can't remember his name but he was an ex-player for Texas Tech but grew up Orange) brought Tennessee shine! The doc's shine had cherries in it and Iris gobbled them down ;)

I am very good friends with the ghost of Popcorn Sutton so I know the 'shine lives on in Maggie Valley NC. and Cocke County Tn.!

I had received orders to go to Fort Jackson (Columbia, SC) and get a job that didn't require me to deploy and work somewhat normal hours. My brigade is deploying again in a few months, so they tried to get my orders deleted and take me with them. Well, after a huge tug of war game between the big army and my Brigade, big army won and I'm moving on the "Relaxin Jackson"! After multiple deployments to 4 different wars, my fighting days are over!

My respect for you! After all that time served overseas, you DESERVE to be stationed on U.S. soil.

Not now. Shannon Terry (posts under the name Lucky) sold Rivals to Yahoo a few years back and made big bucks. He launched 247 Sports as his new project with Shannon the majority owner and longtime Texas recruiting guru Bobby Burton as the minority owner. When the contract with Rivals ended with his Bama site, which was Rivals largest team site, he moved Bama Online to 247. He operates 247 and Bama Online and posts there as well...full of good info.

Last year, Rivals seemed to have our guys rated higher than most.  This year, they have them lower.  Dormady just got bumped up from 2 stars to 3, but everyone else has had him as a 4 for a while.  They have Mckenzie as #4 at his position (and only a 4*), while others have him #1 overall.  They're also lower on Williams and Tuttle (assuming we get him).  Weird.

Haven't posted much lately. My new job in charge of player evaluations for Rivals.com has me very, very busy.
