Buying a Washer

It appears the old washing machine may be on its last legs. Does anyone have advice for a really cheap guy buying a washer? The one I have is 11 years old and was the cheapest thing around when I got it. I'd be fine getting another one that inexpensive if it would last as long.

This is as cheap as they get and it will last a lifetime...or as long as your wife is willing to sit there and scrub clothes before she walks out.

As a fellow penny pincher, I can offer this advice.  As an Mechanical Engineer I can offer this advice also.

If you buy cheap, you get cheap and do not expect it to last as long as the last one you bought.  The quality of materials and workmanship in products has gone wayyy down as the accountants and Harvard Business school graduates took over businesses.  Do NOT buy any off-brand washer unless you can afford to replace it within 5 years.

My advice:  Take the lowest price and the highest price of the most bells & whistles and divide by two.  Look for a name brand product just about this average price.  It will be quality at an affordable price.
