Georgia or maybe even SC or UF at the Swamp.

Today... there are no excuses. None whatsoever. Horrible effort by the players, horrible effort by the coaches, bad football. I am embarrassed to be a Tennessee fan.

Last in the SEC East. LAST.

Behind UK AND VU.

Pathetic.

This was almost as bad as the 96 Memphis game.  Derek Dooleys seat is warming.

Yes, it was worse. And Dooley's seat is red hot. I know 90% of folks won't agree with my stance on the coaching situation, but regardless of that, if Dooley doesn't get at least 8 wins next year, he's gonna be toast.

Frankly, I would rather go ahead and suck it up and do it. Maybe we can get a coach in whose teams at least play fundamental football even when they're short a few players.

I don't so much have a problem with a 5-7 record and last place finish in the East. My problem is with the way we played the game as the season unfolded.

He's got to at least make changes on the offensive side of the ball. And yes, even if he does make changes he has to win 8 or 9 next year. The thing that strikes me here is the problems that were noted against Buffalo, Cincy, Montana, etc. are still present. We can't run.

I don't fault you at all for your stance.  I can totally understand that view, I just think the odds of us lucking up and landing a winner aren't good with the way things are.  Even if we broke the bank and offered $5 mil per year.. what big name coach would want to step into this situation?

Get rid of him now................................he can't blame this one on lack of talent.......................................I was not happy with his hiring from day one.

4 sure wins on the schedule and we lose the big games bad...............and can't beat a shizzlety UK team to get 6 wins.

We have a horrible offensive staff and they can keep Dooley and go............

For 4-5 million/yr we could hire Gruden or Cowher, or lure someone else away from another program...................it will just cost us that to do it.

There's no way we get get either of those guys no matter how much we offer.  That's ridiculous.

Why don't we just get the rumor mill started on the old standbys like Phil Fulmer, Butch Davis, and Lovie Smith while were at it?

Like it or not, Dooley's not going anywhere for at least a year.  And if he wins less than 9 next year (including 5 in the SEC), then I'll be right there beside you demanding his ouster.

Check the archives from January 2010: I doubted Dooley's hire from the start.  And I still do.  But now is the not the time to make yet another change.  We're on track for another top 15 recruiting class.  Get them all enrolled, and we'll have enough talent to compete with the top of the SEC.  Whether Dooley is the guy to coach that talent is yet to be determined.  But let him go, and this class probably falls apart, along with a huge chunk of our existing roster.  Now is not the time for kneejerk reactions.

I know there may be some downside, but after watching this team look like shizzle against even descent competition and losing to UK tops it for me.......
I say we would not be much worse off, and we would build a stonger foundation for the future instead of being a horrible team like we are now.................

We are on Rocky Bottom now.............................make the tough decision now.

No, my point is some situations good and proven coaches want no part of.. for any amount of money.  TN is a very tough rebuilding job.

If we're seriously suggesting that Cowher or Gruden might come to TN, I'm going to feel like I've stepped straight into the volnation forums.

However, I don't think UT would be nearly as tough to sell right now as it was 2 years ago. There is lots of young talent on this team. Plus we have a new AD...that's a total unproven, but who's to say he isn't going to be better at luring a good football coach to Knoxville than Hamilton was?

I'm glad we won't be going to a bowl. How embarrassing would that be if we played in a bowl the way we played today?
