I'm sure I'm not the only one who, upon reading the headline, figured it was probably knocked over by a shopper at the Ft. Payne Wal-Mart.

And this begs the obvious question: Do they get a replacement trophy?  And if so, do they count that as another NC?

Yeah, we can only hope so.

I personally think their run is about at an end.  It hasn't lasted forever for ANYONE.  Gators were pretty cocky around early 2009, where are they today?  Even Paterno and Bowden, the two coaches that beat "bahr", went out with whimpers and not bangs.   So can Saban defy the laws of nature?  Even though I think he might be a manifestation of the Devil, I doubt it.  We'll see how they fare this year without Richardson and a good part of the NFL D they had last year.

Saban's run at Alabama is just getting started, I'm afraid. He's by far the best coach in the game today. No one else is even close.

He is an excellant coach.  So is Meyer.  So were Bowden and Paterno.

Yeah, but Saban is better than Bowden and Paterno put together.

Plus, it isn't just coaching with Saban.  If you compile a composite ranking recruiting over the last 4 years, bammer is overwhelmingly no. 1.  And Saban has done all that with his charming personality.

If the NCAA ever decides to, they can destroy bammer.  They are probably afraid of all the nuts that root for them and don't want any more lawsuits.

Still...I don't even begin to buy that Saban is "just a good recruiter".   And that's not just hearsay, but I won't go any farther than that.

You have been quite vocal in your praise of Saban.  His run will end just like everyone else's.  His shizzle DOES stink, and badly at that.

So let's compare notes in two years and see where we are.

I told the gators the same thing in 2009.  The only thing is, I haven't had the heart to go over there and rub their noses in it because WE suck so bad.

But I stand by my guns on this.  Saban will not even sniff another MNC in the next two years.   Period, dot.

Wake me up when there's a little evidence to back that up. The NCAA has gone after Alabama plenty of times in the past. Why wouldn't they now? The NCAA has shown over and over in the past couple of years that they will go after anyone, anywhere and let the chips fall where they may.

Saban is a great recruiter, and that's part of being a great college coach. But his teams are about more than raw talent. If landing blue chip recruits was all that mattered, Texas would win the Big 12 every year and be in the BCSNCG two out of every three years. Saban's teams play disciplined, fundamental football and hard-nosed defense. Those are things that are pretty much forgotten in the game today.

Fans that go around saying the NCAA is going to hammer Alabama at any given minute are just bitter. Sour grapes is all it is. Sorta like fans who say the NCAA is gonna hammer Kentucky basketball . . . although, in that instance, there's at least a little smoke around John Calipari's recruiting tactics. Saban bends the recruiting rules to his advantage, but I would be willing to bet that he'll never feel the mighty sting of the NCAA's wrath. And it has nothing to do with the NCAA being afraid of Alabama. That's nonsense.

Bowden and Paterno were great coaches. Meyer is a great coach, though I think it's far too soon to put him on a pedestal with the other two. But Saban is a level above any of them. He's the Bear Bryant and the General Neyland of our age...the coach who singularly has a dominant impact on the game. As long as he is at Alabama, Alabama is going to be a national championship contender year-in and year-out. Period, dot, exclamation point.

I see no indication that Bama is going anywhere while Saban is there, either.  There's simply no chinks in the armor that I can see.

I'm hoping the $30K repair bill will put a dent in Bammer's Fat Albert Perpetual Slush Fund.

Well we clearly disagree.  I am confident that  bammer will NOT win 2 of the next 3 MNCs and may not win another with Saban there.

Having said that, after having 20 years of up close personal experience with how stupid some of their fans , I actually don't give a shizzle.      As much as I loathe them, it's just a dam game for chrissake.

But it will still be fun to find out.   You sound like a gator fan from 2009.

Two can play at this game.  I can just as easily point to bammer's almost unprecedented success in recruiting, which is highly exceptional (name another team that finishes 1 or 2 for five consecutive years in recruiting in the entire history of the NCAA) and say that anyone who does not suspect cheating is naive, uninformed and a bit blind.  Actually a good analogy is Pete Carroll at USC.  He was such a player's coach and all around good guy that he could not possibly have been cheating.  He was just a great recruiter.  He had success for 5-7 years and then skipped town when they caught up with him.  While I may well be bitter, my opinion on bammer's recruiting is mostly based on the history-defying results.  If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I could add that they have a long history under saban of skating close to the fire, but that has been endlessly rehashed in the past. I will close on a final note stating that I have lived in this state for the entire time Saban has been coach and I heard things from Aubur fans in 2008...after he went 6-6.   This is not a recent opinion based on their success.

Final note on this thread.  Your post was so long and the editor on this site does not like long posts.

Two things.  One, I don't think the gap between Bowden/Paterno and Bryant/Neylad is so great as you make it to be.  At the end of the day it's just an opinion though, so I don't really have much else to say about it.

Assigning Saban to the Bryant class, even at my lower definition, is highly premature.  It's true that he has three MNCs, which is more than any coach since Osbourne, but using your definition, that he is one of the greatest coaches of all time, is simply not true yet.  Frankly if Meyer ends up winning one at OSU he will be just as accomplished as Saban.   I honestly don't see a huge difference between uf 2006-2008 and bammer 2009-2011.  I do see one big similarity.  Both fan bases became incredibly cocky and everyon thought it would last forwever.

When you are at the top, the only way to is down.

Well, I haven't said anything football related on this board since I had a discussion with mostly Bandit just after the Tide blew it this year with that 9-6 loss.

Anyway, very nice thread on the current woes at Bama. Good stuff.

See you guys at the next blue-light special, and back to Walmart I go for the clean-up on aisle 4....BRING ME THAT MOP AND SHOVEL!!!

Does anyone possibly have any information on Bandit being seen recently at a Walmart near aisle 4???
