for the theft issue in April apparently. Guys on VQ reporting it as official now.

Disappointed in him is all I can say. I don't know what will happen, but I guess he's likely done as a Vol

Yep, he needs to hit the road.  I'm sure Auburn will take him.

At least we have some depth at TE.  Hopefully Downs and Meredith will be ready to go.

Which shows again how Hubbs isn't quite as much on top of things as he used to be...

And I would sure as hell hope he's done as a Vol. What kind of "team" can you have if one of the guys is stealing laptops from the rest? This is another big test for Dooley.

It's likely a felony charge, so I doubt Dooley has much choice.

Hubbs said something was up, there was a theft, and an investigation was ongoing... but he doesn't report things and name names like this until they are official. I think that's the right thing for him, as a journalist, to do.

This shouldn't even be a question, either from a chemistry or pragmatic standpoint.  He's #2 on the depth chart at one of the deeper positions on the team.  You can cut him loose and still not really affect your on-field product.  And if you keep him, you could very likely hurt your product.

Well, to be honest, I didn't even read what Hubbs said on the matter. But I read on here (in fact, I think you posted it) that Hubbs reported that it was being investigated but that Clear wasn't to blame.

He did report that at the time he was not being charged with anything....because his name was linked by rumors

"It wasnt Cam" is a lot different than saying no names are being released, imo.

My educated guess is that they were trying to cover it up and then Cam went and did something stupid... again.

I really want to give Dooley the benefit the doubt...I'm not just saying this because I don't like him; as I've said over and over, I still want him to succeed at Tennessee. BUT...if your assumption is true, it pretty well proves that Dooley is in over his head. How can you hope to have team unity if you allow someone to steal from his teammates and remain on the team while attempting to keep it from the public eye?

I can't argue.

Don't know what will happen, too many rumors out there....

But if he does plead down to a misdemeanor, there is a precedent for keeping him. Don't know if that happens.

He stole a MacBook Pro from a baseball player and then used it to connect to the campus network.

Screw the precedent. It's time to set a new precedent.

I would imagine there are immediate expectations in the VFL program.  I know it is described as a 4-year curriculum, but basic no-no's such as stealing would surely be understood as not permissible in any form.  I just hope the VFL program does not start to look like lip service.

It may be a hard stance, but my opinion is that stealing from fellow athletes is cancerous and should be removed rather than treated.

That's where I stand on it, too. If a player shoplifted, I would not be happy about it but I would be okay with a suspension or other punishment. Stealing from teammates is a special kind of bad because it's not only a violation of the law but -- well, you said it best -- cancerous to the team.

He apparently stole from a baseball player, who is not exact a teammate in the strictest sense of the word, but it's still pretty bad.
