It was just published and it is called "Mama's Garden". There was a 1998 publication of the same name but is something else. She is not a professional author but if you read with the idea that you are at the dinner table listening to the family tell their stories then you have the right idea.


It is the family telling stories of growing up dirt poor in Mine Lick Creek, Tn. The stories make you wonder how they survived.

Would this be in southern Putnam County or northern DeKalb County? If so It is now under Center Hill Lake.

Would this be in southern Putnam County or northern DeKalb County? If so It is now under Center Hill Lake.

Not sure, but they said the area is now under water. So would that be Northern Dekalb or Southern Putnam?

Yes. The dam was built around 1948 and the mouth of Mine Lick is in the northeastern part of my county (DeKalb) but the majority of the creek lies in Putnam. I might check out the book if it has to do with my county. Our county historian might also be interested.
