I never thought we would shut down Murray, and the pass D, while not great, was about what I expected.  Obviously the big problem was the rush D.

We gave up 282 yards rushing to uga , but 197 of them came on just 3 runs.  We all know that the long runs were the problem, this just gives some idea of how big of a problem.

For the record, here is how uga performed running against other teams.  It show what those teams allowed in rush yards, what uga did, and the difference between the two:

               Avg               Uga               Diff
 Buffalo    200                  227              +27
 Missouri   111                  113               +2
 FAU        219                  328             +110
 Vandy     186                  302             +116
 Vols        188                  282             +96

I thought it was kind of interesting that Uga has exceeded the typical yardage allowed by every school they have played.   It also seems like maybe there was an improvement around the 3rd game for some reason.  Of course, all the teams except Missouri have shizzlety run D's anyway.  And notice that we did only slightly better than Vandy and FAU...that's simply awful.

So how hard can it be to stop long TD runs?    Without them uga had only 85 yards on 36 carries.  This should be a very interesting test, to me.  If I am Dooley, on my list of game goals, right below "win" is "stop long TD runs".  I mean, how fizzleing hard can it be??????

And oh yeah, no. 3 is "don't let any other part of the game go to shizzle either".  It takes a total package.

Side note...I had no idea Missouri had such a good run D.   Bammer goes on the road to play them the week before they play us and they just lost their top receiver.  Should be an interesting game...

Apparently it is impossible for our team to stop long runs or has been so far. I don't think we are suddenly going to get faster and take better angles in a week. Our DE's never push up field on the outside runs which would mess the whole play up.

Giving up the big play seems to be a problem for this defense. It's feast or famine. I expect the staff to make the right moves to fix, or at least improve the situation.
