W.O.W.  That's a little spooky... SO much money.  I'm glad it's not my decision!

Sounds about right.  For that kind of money, would we be out of line as a fanbase if we expect results in year two?  I don't think so.

I believe that rumor as much as I believe ANY urban myth!!!  Get ready to once again be disappointed.

UTAD does not have that kind of money to offer.

Many reputable sources have said money will not be an issue.  The Haslams just forked over a BILLION for the Browns.

Instant nationwide recruiting. That's a good thing.

That's the kind of money it would take. I have no connections in Knoxville, but have heard 8th hand information this has been circulated among certain offices in Bristol, CT. I'm not sure about the money part, merely the potential Gruden could depart. ESPN has a lot more cash to toss around, but I don't think (my opinion as someone who has never met Gruden) that will be the deciding factor. If I had to guess Gruden has been offered, but probably doesn't know if he'll take it. He's got time to think it over.

First off, where is Hart going to get the big money to hire a Big Name coach? If there were a big donor willing to pony up the cash, where were they the past four years when UT has been paying fired coaches salaries?  The answer is simple; they do not exist.

UTAD has zero cash reserves and cash flow is very bad if any of you have been listening to Hart.  UTAD has been donating big bucks to the university and this administration will never let that cash cow go in tight fiscal times.  Unless the university president is willing to let UTAD keep $5M to $7M a year to spend on coaches, all this talk of Gruden if just talk.

Once again the majority of fans are going off and losing touch with reality and imagining that dreams are now the truth.

If it is Gruden, fine.  But do not hold your breath because I just feel almost everyone will be disappointed.  Outside of Hart, a select few in UTAD and Athletics Board, and Hart's bosses. no one knows.  All these internet rumors, confidential or reliable sources, whatever...no one but Hart knows.

Remember all the sure thing rumors the last two times?  How many Defensive Coordinators were a sure thing, the deal is done, an agreement was made.... before we finally hired one?

Just remember that old saying "There's a sucker born every minute."

Also it's easy to explain why they weren't around the last two times... because they didn't believe in the AD.

Hart was at Bama when Saban was lured in, and saw firsthand how that hire transformed that entire seemingly overnight.  Past hiring behavior by former AD's mean nothing, imo.  Like you said, I firmly believe JG is the #1 target.  I'm still doubtful he'll accept.  But what are message boards for, if not speculation and discussion?

I welcome Gruden to the SEC. He is the type of coach that makes our conference that much better!

I have been reading around this morning and if the original info came from the poster known as OCI Vol, I would not only disregard it but laugh at it.

I don't think there is an offer on the table.

Worst case scenario this gets coaches calling their agents because some buzz has been created about the UT job. Even if Gruden isn't hired (sure he's contacted, doubt he'd accept) it benefits us.

Hopefully the rumors will circulate for at least a couple of weeks.

True or not, that's probably about what it would take to get him.

Money will come from the boosters. They are fed up with the Dooley show and are following the bama model in hiring. In other words, go big or go home. No more of the up and comers.

I don't care what it takes...Gruden has to be the guy for the comic reaction of bammers and 'dores everywhere.  #chuckieorbust
