I named my beagle pup "Dooley". I wonder how long it will take for him to respond to "Chucky".

Probably depends on the type of pup.  I'm sure he opens up a can on chihuahuas and pomeranians, but anything as big or bigger than, say, a bulldog (ahem) just goes all Michael Vick on his ass.
