Other media outlets are taking that out of context.

Volquest is reporting that it WILL be done but they are not reporting that he's been fired yet. So is Wes Rucker of 247. Both Rucker and Hubbs are on record as saying "Not if, but when."

That is what I read in the column when I got back home.  Was questioning if I missed a post by Hubbs somewhere

National media is clueless. Somebody probably TOLD somebody that Hubbs said it was done and nobody researched it.

Fuad made a good point after the game (paraphrasing here) that if you fire a coach the players kind of do what they want. You want to limit the time a ship is rudderless so delaying the official announcement is helpful to keeping the guys in line, particularly those less academically motivated. Announcing the firing now just gives fans a good feeling, but doesn't necessarily benefit the program.

Here is where it is coming from... from Brice's article on VQ:

Tennessee is expected to seek its fourth head football coach since 2008 by season's end, numerous sources have told VolQuest.com, and based on conversations with multiple people the final piece of the equation centers on when to formally signal the imminent end of the three-year Derek Dooley era.

So did Paul Finebaum....

If Finebaum's reporting it, it probably means he'll be back next year.
