At this point I would hire Fulmer for three years and hope Peyton is ready to become eithe coach or AD.  I think I would want him at AD more. This $#@! of hiring people with a passing interest in the fortunes of Tennessee is getting way old.

If you're gonna take a coach with a terrible reputation, you call Petrino first. He's never presided over an NCAA scandal.

Davis has pretty much been cleared of wrongdoing. I know...not ideal still, but we just had a UL football coach tell us to take a hike after we offered him 4 million

Yeah but he got more to stay in a softer job...which is entirely what it was about.  Why move if the money is not better?

Davis...I don't know...how old is he?   If he has been cleared, he might make a decent emergency hire, but we are not at that point yet.

Would love to get the Stanford coach.  Offer him $4 mill and see what happens?

Offer Cincinnati's Butch Jones the position as he wants the job, getting him on board by Friday, and call it a f%$^&%g day.

Would prefer Fedora to Jones.

We are pretty close to have preferences going out the door. Plus, Fedora advised recruits this afternoon that he will be at UNC and is not interested.

Jones reportedly has taken the Colorado job.

Conflicting reports out there on whether he has accepted or not. He might have heard of our fiasco and playing delay tactics to see if his phone rings.

No matter what, we (UT) need to make just one more offer to someone. We can't have another rejection IMO. Whomever gets offered better be on the plane to Knoxville when the pen is capped.

Do you think getting turned down matters?  Is it one of those things that, "oh no way, Strong turned them down, I can't go there".

I just don't see that.  If the situation and money is right for a coach, it's right.

What I do think is a concern is the onset of the recruiting dead period, which is December 17.  We need to get a coach before then so he can contact the recruits and get a start on improving the class.

Who is the other one?

For that matter, who are the other TWO? I assume one is Gundy but I still do not think UT offered Gundy.

On Sunday, we had 3 top candidates. Gundy was interviewed and pulled his name from the process, after waiting 48 hours. Don't know if he was offered but he heard the pitch and said no thanks. Strong rejection was today. And during this Strong effort today, Fedora advised UT that he was not interested in the position. The 3 top candidates from Sunday are no longer an option.

I have seen nothing suggesting that Fedora is out of play.
