Is that a realistic expectation?  Probably not.  But we were promised an A-list coach, so I expect A-list results.  Sorry Coach Jones, I admire the fact that you were willing to take on this job when apparently no one else would, but you just walked straight into Dave Hart's shizzlestorm.  Make us believe.

I expect 8-4 by 2014 or 2015. Rebuilding will take a while like 1977-1983 for Johnny Majors

I would say good shot at division title by year three. If we get edged out on tie-breakers, I will be fine with it.

But your expectation is very reasonable IMO.

In the meantime,  I want a winning season next year.  That is definitely not too much to hope for.

This is crazy Woodstock. The roster and everything else is much better at UT now than it was when Majors took over. This is not a ground-up rebuilding job. Dooley faced something like that but Jones does not.

I expect 7-8 wins in 2012 2013. Less than that and I won't want him canned but I will be quite disappointed. By 2015 we need to be even with our Rivals . . . that means 10 wins . . . or Jones may not survive it.

EDIT: LOL. I was expecting Jones to rewrite history.

If Tennessee loses Bray,Patterson and Hunter I think Tennessee wins around 4-5 games. I'm not confident about the quality of the quarterbacks behind Bray

Can't disagree much...9 wins in regular season might be enough in year 3, particularly if we win the bowl game to get to 10.  Three years is enough.

To win the SECE, we will need to go from 1 SEC win to 7 wins. Which school are we taking these 6 additional wins from using the pie theorem.

In three years, not next year, to be clear.

Kentucky Missouri USCe Vandy "Western Division Patsy" and Uga

We only need 6, perhaps?

Hold serve vs. Kentucky and beat the teams on our 2013 schedule that our talent is within striking distance of . . . South Carolina, Missouri, Vandy, Auburn . . . and you get to 5 SEC wins. To get to 6 or 7 Jones will have to recruit his ass off the next 3 years so that we are within striking distance of UGA, UF, and Alabama. It's a tall order but not unrealistic since we're paying the guy Mark Richt money.

I would say that is not an impossible desire. It may not happen but there should be a chance. If we can get just a few difference makers on both sides and coach just a little better we should have a decent shot at it.

Excellent response, and I agree.

I'll say we should finish year 2 in the top 25.

Unless some guys that could declare for the draft this year decide not to, Jones is gonna have to be a helluva coach to get to 8 wins next season.
