I found out yesterday that our own bUTrosbUTrosVOLie (Gary Roberts) passed away a few months ago.  He last posted here back in December, but it was not unusual for him to stay away for long stretches without posting.  His friend Volhalla told me.  He and bUTros had both retired to Utah some years back "just to be kids again -- camping, hiking, golf, travel, etc." and they were best friends for over 55 years.  Apparently bUTros's death was pretty sudden and took all of his friends by surprise.  I can say without hesitation that bUTros was one of my favorite posters and I got to meet him a couple times at our family tailgate.  He was a unique and very funny guy, and he will be missed.  RIP bUTros!

"Every man's death is a standing in for every other. And since death comes to all there is no way to abate the fear of it except to love that man who stands for us. We are not waiting for his history to be written. He passed here long ago. That man who is all men and who stands in the dock for us until our own time come and we must stand for him. Do you love him, that man? Will you honor the path he has taken? Will you listen to his tale?"

-- Cormac McCarthy, Cities of the Plain

One of bUTros's favorite authors, if I recall correctly.

BBV made the world a more colorful place. That dood will be missed.

bUTros will be missed greatly.  As TRO said he was funny as heck both on the board and in person and was always one of my favorite posters.

On the old board (pre mudduck) and on the VD board bUTros and Volhalla (then WWVol) and I had long, long threads (back when the thread posts would move across the page) on all number of subjects.  Several we're on their high school years at Young HS.

Gary my friend, you WILL be missed.

BTW, I see VHS registered, please drop me a note.

We will have to drink a toast to all our dear departed and missing friends this year at the tailgates so we can remember them all.

Gary, I did not love you more than Granny, and she did not love you more than I did. We loved you equally.
